I am new to the forum but i was wondering is there any deer in Fannin county. This is my first year on a lease right outside honey grove and we have yet to see any good bucks. We have only seen one young 8 point and several does.

Fannin County is being hurt by the increased bag limits. Too many deer being taken. We were on the way to having deer become abundant... now they are few and far between.

I have noticed. We have seen a few does but not much more and the does are rare to see as well. I think the National Forest hunters have killed just about everything. It sounds like a war zone out there on the weekends

Yeah it does. Years ago, it was by drawing, and it was a one buck county. Since then, they opened that up to the world, and made it 2buck 2 does and it's like vietnam...

Deer hunting in Fannin County is changing fast...

Yes, used to see some nice bucks in Fannin. I was really suprised they changed the limit and started killing everything off.

My Papa has land up there near Honey Grove and yes there are deer you just have to be very patient to see them. Definitely not a place where you want to kill all 4 that they allow I would never even consider more than one or two. I've hunted there my whole life and have done fairly well. Just takes lots of time in the woods is all.

I've spent the last three days hunting in Fannin on Forrest Land, and I've not seen one deer. Not even on backroads or ANYWHERE. I hunted there in November and seen plenty of hogs, a few turkeys and some deer. Now nothing. They must all be nocturnal from the pressure, because there's plenty of sign.

Mmmm Hmmm

I've been hunting there for a couple of years and last year I killed a big 11 point that scored around 150". The big ones are in there you just have to be very patient and you might get lucky!!

My place has too many hogs and the deer disappear. I like the antler restrictions but wish it was only one buck over 13" and no does.

I got buds that hunt the east side of Fannin county and have done really well. I looked at a property about 2 miles from Crockett and it was covered in tracks.
