What type of bow blind do you recommend for the Hillcountry? I have heard mixed things about ground blinds, tree stands, and tri-pod blinds pushed in some trees. Is getting off the ground a few feet better and a more forgiving then being on the ground?
I had a shot at a doe last week from a ground blind and when I pulled back my arm rubbed the back of the blind and startled her away further then I wanted to shoot.

Just make sure you get a ground blind big enough to shoot out of. I have a Primos Vision, and I have tons of room.

First thing I do when I get in the blind is get setup and then practice drawing my bow at different angles. Also recommend practicing in the off season from a sitting and kneeling position. Haven't had too many shot opps. while hunting where I was able to stand 20 yds in front of the target and comfortably draw my bow . BTW In my experience you'll get better concealment in a good ground blind which will make it somewhat easier to get your bow back. In an open tree stand or tripod it's the movement that get's you busted most of the time (not counting scent control). Just my .02 cents... Good luck!!

I use the promos brand as well, any of their blinds are pleanty roomy and have great features, large inside, great camo, loops and cords to brush in, many different window angles anf shoot thru mesh windows. The keys to ground blind hunting are,, -brush it in good -open only 1 maybe a side and half of the windows, keep it super dark inside. -Wear black, not camo -get a small, quiet yet comfortable chair, I have like the fold up child chair from -academy best. It dosent sink into the ground, no armrest to get into the way.

I know some will say no way will I spend that much but the Double Bull is the best there is period. I have uded alot of diffrent ground blinds but the double bull hands down for me. The key to ground blinds are make sure they do NOT HAVE A FLOOR worst mistake is to get one with a floor to much noise and they will hear it. Then make sure it has enough tie downs and the most important is no FLAPPING around in the wind just make sure when you set it up clean the area real good sticks leaves so on... Then once you pop it up kick some of it agaist the walls to control your scent works great also brush it in good Cody had the rest right Black Shirt so on good luck. I leave mine out year round no problems with the Double Bull. Plus it has a lifetime warranty.

I also have not tried shooting thru the mesh so i took it down and opened up (2) windows. I have the Trekker T-200 which is a little small inside for bow hunting I found. If I am using fixed blad G2 Montac heads and only going to shoot 25 yards are less can I be shooting thru the mesh?

Primos Vision I have one and it's huge and I love it, it's quiet and has 360 degrees shooting. You can't beat the price it's a good deal.

I would fell comfortable shooting thru the mesh, but just take a small target out onday, sit in ur blind with mesh on and take a shot, if it's accurate as always shot thru the mesh bc it really helps on huffing u inside. I have heard with fixed blades ur always ok doing it, Now with micanicals,,, no? Ad you can tell the primos double bull is the best by far!!

I shoot thru the mesh no problems as long as they are fixed blades only. The mesh does not have to be tight I have shot over 50 animals thru the Double Bull no problems yet.

Had to replaced the mesh one time but I have shot a number of Whitetail,Black Buck,Axis,Red Deer, and Fallow Deer no problems yet. These where the blinds we used when we guide hunted awesome blinds can't beat the lifetime warranty why buy a 75 to 80 dollar blind three for four times and have to take it back or buy one for life?

X2 on what Bear Creek said. I like ground blinds better for hiding from the dear. You have more problem with scent on the ground. I hunt both treestands and ground blinds.
My ground blind is just 3 rebuilt pallets i got a work with some brush pilled up around it and some camo netting hanging over them. This works great and is very cheap.

I like tree stands, but in hill country that will limit you. Think about tri-pod pushed up in tree. I do this in the mesquites and it works great. If you do the ground blind make sure you brush it in.

I like being in a tree. A good live oak will conceal you well using a number of stands. Ladder, hanging and tripod. A good sized cedar is also a good candidate for a tripod. That said I have used a pop up but have yet to have one of the stupid "myth buster" deer come close enough for a shot.
