I shot them both last year. The mallard was my first duck of the season at my buddy's place near Paris. He was the first bird that we had come in. Dropped right in the dekes over the tree tops in this exact postion.



Thanks to that good fella here Cable. I was able to get this bull wigeon on a place near Wills Point. It was one of Cali's first duck hunts where she had plenty of work to do. She marked it all the way on the back side of the pond over the dam. I thought for sure that she would run the bank, but she went all the way over the hill and right back.

What is the best way to "keep" the bird before you can get it to the Taxi? Freeze it whole in tact?

Also, how long can you keep it before you HAVE to get it to him?

I fold the head under one wing and wrap in a few grocery bags all in tact. There are better ways to do it, but they will last about 8-12 months in the freezer like that. All of my mounts have turned out good.... the sooner you get them there the better. These were in the freezer less than 2 months.
