200 yards. I’m thinking it’s me and my bipod not getting along. 5shots. Spikes walking on concrete when I try to load it. What says the brain trust.

The question is whether shooting a bipod-equipped rifle off a concrete bench, and seeing the double grouping and shot dispersion shown could be due to the rubber feet slipping on the concrete.

Yes, actually metal spikes slipping. I usually grab a floor mat when I’m on concrete with the spikes but as usual brain damage. Checked all my screws top to bottom. It’s something I did. Just trying to decide if it’s bipod load, or the aforementioned brain.

??? Sorry, what is the exact question? To clarify, it’s my first day out with the A-Tip 166s. This load was .3 from my best load of the day. I’m wanting confirmation that what I’m seeing is OE and not a load issue. On a side note, the best load was 39.8 of Varget in a 7-08. This has so far proven true in two totally different custom rifles with the 162 A-Max and now with the 166 but not yet proven out. I’m sure it’s a coincidence, but I’ve heard Garvey say the same thing about his. I don’t believe in pet loads, but this is showing up time and again. Also, the 166 Atip is faster by 30’ than the 162 A-Max with the same load. Less bearing surface? Idk

Clamp a piece of wood or angle iron to the bench. Push your bipod into that.
39.8 gr is a common charge area to be in. But of course not a hard rule.

39.8 gr is a common charge area to be in. But of course not a hard rule. I've done that, and I've also used an open-cell foam pad for the bipod legs to rest on. I'm not sure any method I've tried really was better than any other. I am not a fan of using a bipod in the field anyway.

Possibly 'loading' the bipod forces fore-end to touch barrel?

Possibly 'loading' the bipod forces fore-end to touch barrel? Fair, but in this case it’s a manners carbon fiber. I would break it before it touched the barrel.

Possibly 'loading' the bipod forces fore-end to touch barrel? On the weakest stocks out there, the polar opposite happens. Load the bipod, and the forearm of the stock clears the barrel even more.
