Ihave been waiting for 3 years on a good buck. Others hunting my property have bagged several 8 points, plus a nice 11 point last year. I made the mistake gut shotting a nice buck on monday morning. Had a good blood trail with periodic blood sprays where I think he coughed possibly. Anyhow, lost the trail after about 200 yards. There were several small piles or clumps of blood with stopmach contents in it, so I assume this buck eventually died. I hate the fact that the meet was lost, but I would really like to get the rack. After 2 days of looking, I need professional help. If anybody knows of some deer recovery dogs in the ft. worth area, please let me know. My e-mail is tggrissom@direcway.com I feel sick about this and cant stop thinking about it. This was the buck Ive been waiting to see for a long time.

Probably shot liver. Go to nearest water and look for floating deer. Sounds like a typical insides burning deer, I don't care if the water/pond is totally out of the way, go to it and you may find your deer.

Kevin Breaux 254-518-7763, got his # a couple of years ago. Never talked to him but he supposedly had a dog that tracks deer. He is down in Copperas Cove near Lake Whitney. Good Luck.

Last deer that was gut shot at the place we hunt was found dead right on the bank of the nearest tank. Great place to check no matter how far it is to water on your place.

Sure hate that you lost your buck. Watch closely for buzzards and listen for coyotes. They may have already found it. Good luck.

Chiefgriz, call Jeff Prater at 214-914-3583. I sent him an e-mail with a link to this thread. They have one helluva tracking dog. Texastrackers.com is where his contact info is under J&M Tracking. Kevin Breaux is a part of that website, too. Good luck. Keep us posted.

I don't know what your experience has been, but from what I have seen in my hunting, is that if a bullet hits that liver, almost any at all, that deer will go down quicker than a heart/lung shot animal. You may have had a different experience than me, but I haven't ever had a deer that proved to be liver shot go more than about 30 yards at the most. JMO

I was just curious if you found your deer...since it has been 3 days now. I used to have 3 "deer dogs", but divorse and other problems forced me to sell. I wish I still had them though .
