I was predator hunting over a carcass when this lil kitty snuck on in. I was sitting in some scrub oak on the ground looking at the carcass to my left when I felt something hit my right foot. I turned my head, the lion leaned back. I pulled up the rifle 270wsm and fired point blank into its chest. He flipped then ran. I tracked him into some scrub, I could hear his labored breathing, and he ran again when I got on top of him. I followed him into some downed timber and after some crawling on my hands and knees, I found him alive but unable to get up. Quick shot to the neck with the 300bo ended him. 130# tom


In case your wondering why there's a hat in the background. I carried him up the mountain and was whooped, after the hour long chase the adrenaline was gone. I left him and went and got up the guys in camp to come and help bring him done. So I put the hat in the tree so I could find him.

I would have needed a clean pair of drawers. Nice cat!

He hit my boot while sniffing it. The grass was dry and crunchy, and he got within 3 feet I me without me Eve hearing him. I spend a lot of time in the woods and it makes me wonder how close I've been to them or them to me with out me knowing it.

Should of let him claw you once. Few stitches would of made it more interesting. Just kidding, great story and nice cat

That may be the most interesting mountain lion story, ever.

If you've ever owned house cats, you know just how quiet they can move, and I assume the big cats are the same. If they put a stalk on you, you are a goner.

I think it was good and structurally sound, but that last sentence was difficult, postoak.
