Looking to give my son a hunt for his highschool graduation. Pronghorn seem to be the most affordable outside of Texas. It doesnt have to be pronghorn but needs to be affordable.

Ok, this is the Wyoming 3 step.
Buy BLM maps that show Wyoming land ownership in yellow. Ensure you have access to the property via a public highway, as land locked lands are treated as private.
Apply to those areas that appear in yellow as above.
Drive out or fly out and rent a truck and do the hunt your self.
Super easy, cheap and exceptional success rates.
Wyoming 3 step.

Wyoming 3 step. What he says /\ Also get a copy of the Wyoming "Walk In" areas - Private land open to the public. Last time I was there we killed 4 bucks before 1:00pm and 4 does on day 2. It's a good time. Oh yeah, corner hopping blm land is not legal.

I lived in Wyo for a while and most of the East side of the state is private. The Western side is mostly BLM and Pronghorn are plentiful. Anything North of Green River/I-80 area is really good I think the road is Hwy 72 or 78. Its easiest to drive and stock your pronghorns. They have great vision and when spooked don't stop until the next county. Most of the locals hunt Speedgoats, as they call them there, in the manner I mentioned. GR has several hotels and its only a 20-30 drive to get into some good hunting grounds for Pronghorn. Remember, you have to put in for Non-Resident tags in March and hope for the best. If can try and call the State fish & Game office and see if they know of any private land owners that will let you pay a trespassing fee and hunt their lands in the Eastern side of the state if want as well. Anyway, I hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.

Some of it starts in August and some of it ends in November. They cast their horns in November or December. Not joking!
Most of it happens for rifle in September and October. Dependant on the area seasons vary greatly.

Go hunt the BLM land in west/northwest wyoming because there is plenty of it. If you happen to be up in the area overlapping with me, I can show you around to some good places. And a non resident goat tag in WY is only like $200 if I remember. I got this guy south of Cody a couple weeks ago.

There is a lot of people camping out on big bucks on public land.
Don't look down at Montana either, The 500 series areas have tons of tags and tons of public land. Farther drive, but may you could do both.

I just hunted the area around Medicine Bow and our party went 9 for 9 on antelope bucks. It was private land, but the entire area had many, many pronghorn.

If you are a Texas private land only bubba you might consider as above and calling the Game and Fish and asking about land owner tresspass hunts.
The competition for mature animals on public land areas can be huge. To the point that it might ruin your hunt.
Not saying it will happen, but it could happen.
Also the game and fish is well known for over selling the Antelope in certain hunt areas.
Eastmans Journal is about $25 a year, start with a subscription for Christmas and they will tell you what areas to apply for. You don't get what they call the MRS or Member Reference System without the subscription.

Looking to give my son a hunt for his highschool graduation. Pronghorn seem to be the most affordable outside of Texas. It doesnt have to be pronghorn but needs to be affordable. When you add up fuel, lodging and tags... you can get a texas hunt pretty compare able. If you watch the outfitters section you can find guided texas hunts from 1500-2000 pretty easy. If you bow hunt you can do Oklahoma for less then 1k
