Looking for suggestions for access to upper end, hickory creek area, for lake lewisville waterfowl hunting. I have a small boat but would like to walk in somedays instead of going through the hassel of launching and making long runs. Any and all help would be great.

First off, welcome to the forum. If you have a boat.... use it. Anywhere you walk in will be WAY crowded.

And make sure you get the required permit... I hope you like hunting with company!!

Hunted lake lewisville the last two years, the first was a learning experience, the second wasn't bad for public water. Shot a few mallards, teal, and woodduck, missed two pintail drakes late season and had a chance at a canvasback but I blew it. Hunt mostly during the week.

what about the far north eastern end where the two fingers of the cove by Navo ends? I'm guessing you need permission from the landowners to cross the area between the lake and the road. How about south of the greenbelt area on 380? On some mornings launching the boat is such a hastle, I guess I'm kinda lazy somedays.

I used to hunt hickory creek back in the 80's and early 90's but I agree with the other posters, there are not many places left around lewsville to walk in that are still worth hunting. I was scouting around the other day near 423 and 380 to see if there were any decent spots for dove and I was floored by the amount of development out that way or should I say disgusted ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif)

thanks for all the info. I guess I'll just have to hunt from the boat, no easy way out on lake lewisville I guess. Is there any good duck hunting on grapevine? I've hunted Ray Roberts once, set out the dekes then maybe fifteen minutes after sunrise had a guy decide he needed to fish about 150yds off my spread, what a great person he was. Anyway thanks again for the help, good hunting.

I have never attempted to hunt Grapevine...or Bachman Lake either...just kidding ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) The experience that you had at Ray Bob sounds like countless other stories that I have heard about trying to hunt on that lake. Everytime I think I want to try my luck up there I hear another story like this and change my mind. Thanks for the reminder.

a few shots in their direction will scare the fisherman away ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif) ....does anyone know if there is a boat ramp for lewisville off of 380?
It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.
