Well, after cleaning all the cosmoline off the other day, my son and I took our new Mosin Nagants out this morning to shoot. Didn't kick nearly like I had read they would. Pretty accurate for not much bracing at 100 yds. Can't wait to go shoot them again!

The mosin is a carry and shoot rifle. The recoil isn't even what people think. The 7.62x54mmR is rather tame.

Mosin have a good balance and swing. They really are fun rifle to shoot.

They're pretty cool old guns and tough as hell to boot. I hunted deer with my scout-scoped M-44 for several years and the old '54R flat puts a whuppin on them.

Old age ain't for sissies!

I traded for one in a fluke. Reloading press for a mosin. Wanted to shoot one.

It's almost new. Arsenal refinished. Left the entire thing like I got it.

At sometime in it's life. It shot Germans. Thrown in the mud. Maybe beat somebody over the head. Made in 1943. Mosins were the modern fighting weapon on it's time.

They may look kinda funky. But mosins are a dream to carry. Easy to mount and fire. The bolt is funky.

It's also real easy to stand and fire a Mosin. Just shooting golf balls. It has a really good balance. The barrel looks long and heavy with the wood. It's not. The rifle swings smooth and easy. It's impressive as hell.

The sights ain't that bad either. I do want to know how, but my mosin hits within 2" at less then 25rds. I can blast golfballs anywhere within that range. German were close sometimes too.

Don't let a third world, commie nation fool you. They made some user friendly stuff.

7.62x54mmR? Don't even dare think it recoils like a 30-06 or a 308. It recoils like a 54mmR. There's nothing like a Mosins recoil. It's push. Enjoyable push. The type of recoils that make you think your shooting a cannon with a nice feeling recoil. The recoil on a mosin is half the enjoyment.
