I have a rifle on here Mark X .243 and I got a trade offer here locally for a S&W 629 with a cheap scope does this sound like a fair trade

Do you need or want a S&W 629???????? If so then it's a good trade. If not then it's not a good trade!

Are you a pawn shop?

If you do not need or want the gun, then do not do it.

I've made good trades for guns I didn't want and bad trades for guns I wanted, so I guess it comes down to "Do I want the new gun more than the old one?"
Tough call, because I don't know your shooting habits, but if it were me, I'd grab the revolver.

Smith revolvers are great, so value for value, you're coming off well. That being said, you mentioned that you don't particularly want or need the revolver. True, it's good trading capital, but now you have to find someone who wants this and has what you want and that means you might have to sit on it for awhile. Its hard to say yes, or no; you just have to weigh out the pros and cons. If I were in your place, I'd probably hold out for a trade that suits your wants/needs.

Reminds me of buying something that does not fit, hoping to lose or gain weight. If you can't use it now but might later then OK. OK for swap purposes. But if you are selling your rifle because you want a shotgun then wait for a buyer so you can have the cash for what you want. If you swap like I do then you will always be on the losing end of the deal. smile

Only you can really make the call on if it is a good trade you know what you have and what you want or need it may make since tI others it may not as long as you think it is good that's all that really matters
