I got a wasr 10 I really don't know what to do with. It came with a side mounting rail for a scope. I was thinking of slapping a simple scope on it and using it for a beater upper hog gun. I've gotten 3 inch groups from this thing with a scope before, and I'd mainly be using it for a brush gun so shots would be pretty close.

Anyone ever use one? Is the AK worth mounting a scope on? How did the 7.62x39 perform on the pigs?

The WASR 10 would make an outstanding "beater" truck gun. I'm not even sure I'd go with a scope.

No scope just use the open sites...perfect gun for quick shooting and like said just thrown around...they are stout guns and good shooters for 80yrds or so

Here is one of my AK with a Burris red dot. Not a Wasr but you get the idea. Perfect gun for hogs and deer.

Does that optic do pretty good for your AK Koenig? What kind is it and where can I get one?

Another good optic choice is the Primary Arms Aimpoint Micro clone- about $70 IIRC and the one I had survived a couple thousand rounds and was still going strong when I traded it off.

And yes, the AK is a great close range hog tool. It do get a wee bit heavy after a while if you're walking around.

+1 for Primary Arms, they also have combos with AK mounts for red dots. Go check them out.

+2 for PA. I have em for my AR's and AK's. Inexpensive, tough enough for me,
first rate service. I really prefer this over irons any day now that I can't see as well as I used to.

I got the ultimak/micro combo for the chopper (AK). No problems, and it does co-witness.
