Looking into getting a Savage axis xp ss in 30-06. Has anybody on here had one or know if they are any good. I like savage rifles but have not bought one in 20 yrs. Any info would be appreciated.

They'll do better than that if you reload and taylor your load to what they like.......same with any rifle really.

I just want a decent gun at a decent price. This seems to fit the bill. I'm not interested in spending more for a name. I have a buddy that has a little gun shop and will only charge me $15 to order it for me and he suggested the axis as one I should consider. I was interested in a 30-06 for the simple fact that sometime in the next few years I want to go elk hunting. I'm sure a 25-06 would do the job but I assume and I could be wrong that most states would require a .30 caliber gun. My old 110e was bought used 20 years ago and still shoots great only it's to small. Thanks for the replys.

My BIL has one. My dad used it on an unplanned trip to the lease last year. They both love it.
