Just a heads up to anyone that is or will be in the Kerrville area this weekend: The Exotic Wildlife Association is holding a special animal & live auction tomorrow (10/29) at the Inn of the Hills Resort in Kerrville, Tx.

All proceeds go toward the battle to save the scimitar-horned oryx, addax & dama gazelle, as well as many other exotics that are slated to be targeted next. This issue is critical, not only for exotic hunting in the future, but ALL hunting for future generations!!

This event is open to the public and tickets are $30 at the door (includes lunch). We urge EVERYONE that is an exotic enthusiast (or hunter in general) to try and attend.

There are going to be LOTS of great auction items up for grabs as well in live and silent auctions...art, knives, guns, HUNTS, a Kawasaki Mule and much more!

More details via the EWA Facebook page: "We are one day away from our "Legal Battle" auction. From the response we are having at the office the Inn of the Hills will be the place to be Saturday afternoon. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm with the auction starting at 1:00pm If you have not made your reservation or donation there is still time. We will take donations right up until the auction starts. Come join us and support the association that supports you and is working to defend your private property rights. The list of auction items is phenomenal with almost 40 animal lots and that many lots made up of custom knives, rifles, pistols, jewelry, whitetail and exotic hunts as well as a 2012 Kawasaki 600 mule. See you there."

We will see you out there! Happy Hunting!

What is all this legal battle about? I've heard about it somewhat but don't have a clue.

Check out the Exotic Wildlife Associations website. Basically, a lawsuit was done against U.S. Fish & Wildlife to make SH Oryx, Addax and Dama (sp) Gazelle protected on hunting ranches here in the U.S. since these are endangered species in their native ranges. Very misguided lawsuit and will end up hurting these animals who are doing well in Texas by reducing ranches incentives to raise them. This is very loose interpretation of topic.
