I cannot anchor my deer blind with an iron post because the ground is too rocky on the ridge where the blind is located. Also there are no trees to try and anchor with. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Try mixing concrete in a barrel with a bolt set in the concrete to anchor wire to. Depending on the terrain and hight of blind this will dictate size and number of concrete blocks.

You could do this with several tires stacked up, or almost anything similar in shape.

Three 36" rebarbs nailed at 45 degrees and then tie up in the middle. Most times you can get it through broken rock.

Bolt 2 55 gal. barrels together, place them under the stand, fill them with rocks and use steel cable or a good sized chain and at least a 1/2 inch turnbuckle for tensioning.I used this method on a tower that was 14 ft.to the floor, other blinds blew over but not mine.Good luck,Steve

Agreed, should do the trick and won't cost you 10 bags of concrete.

When I was hunting I put my old blind on a hill over a tall tree stump and tied off to the stump with a chain and turnbuckle....worked pretty good! Also took old lug wrenches and used a torch to straighten the neck. Had a good end to hammer on and the tapered end drove into rock
better than I thought it would.....

Good Luck

Some places sell rock anchors. Its a bracket that you use two steel spikes and you drive them with a sledge hammer into the ground. They are criss/crossed so that its a solid anchor. I use them on my blinds becuase our ranch is solid rock about 6 inches under the dirt.

have a cable through the bottom of the barrels, use local rocks, they are cheaper, sand, gravel, anything.

One hole in the ground/rock in the middle of the stand. Holes can be dug just use a 6 foot wrecking bar, been there and done that. Get a 2 foot deep hole and set an anchor bolt in concrete. 1 cable to the center of the bottom of the stand and you are set for life.

We made ours, with some rebar and metal conduit. Got some 1/2" electrical conduit and some 3/8" rebar then welded the conduit in a "X" and away we went. You can make them as large or small as you need.
