I did this the other day and since it was finally done drying I thought I would get some opinions. It was pretty shot up and missing some feathers. Overall I think it came out ok? I think I finally got the bill color down. Those classes I took with Pat at Avian Arts seem to be paying off.

What do you guys think? What would you do different?

Looks awesome! I am not a taxi so I can't give you any updates but if I was a customer picking that up I would be pleased!

Wings are pulled to far from body and look flat. You shouldn't have a gap between the body and scapulars. Also try to put a little bend into the wing to give it motion and something is going on at tail. Did you do a feather count because you have to many on one side and not enough on the other. Start from your sprig and count out and you should have the same amount on each side. I see some other issues but most would fix themselves if your wings weren't stretched so far away from his body. Overall it looks good and clean. Keep at it and study your reference.

Looks great to me. Is there a non-flying widgeon?

Yeah I do think I pulled the wings a little to far forward, but one of my reference pics showed they do show separation of the tertiary flight feathers from the body on occasion so I left it. In hind sight I should have pulled them back some.

The tail is missing feathers so I did the best I could with it. Maybe I should have done something different but I didn't know how to fix it any better than that?

Here is one of the reference pics I was using that showed the feather separation of course this bird is coming in and mine is not.
