Is anyone hunting in Cooke / Montague Counties? How has your season been? We had great pictures before the season but the bucks have vanished!

We hunt Northwest Montague county. We too had some great bucks on camera up until about the 1st of October, then NO big buck pictures at all. I talked to a very knowledgeable game warden the other day and he said this year it was not unusual for the deer to relocate up to 5 miles or so to feed on acorns. He said the deer will be back but probably not until after deer season. It has been a very frustrating year!!

I wish my place had acorns if that is the case. I would love to have all the deer from a 5 mile radius. There would be so many deer in those areas you would not be able to walk without hitting one. I hunt in Clay county and we had the same thing happen. First year on this lease and very disappointed.

We have tons of pecans (native & papershell) and various oaks all over our property(Decatur). Point is, still no deer. Pulled memory cards this past weekend....167 pics of coons & pigs. I think I had 3 does and 1 cull buck in all of em'.....

I hunt north of Lake Nocona and this year has been the best year we have ever had. We have seen more deer than ever before and killed 3 bucks between 120"-135".
