I hunt North of Segovia on Hwy 479. This season has been different we usually plan to be @ the ranch to hit the rut in full swing this yr we really never seen them rut is it just us or has other hunters expirenced the same thing..Although we have seen more Sika this yr than ever before.

saw them rutting around thanksgiving pretty decently.
but in 3 years hunting the area, i have yet to see bucks really rutting hard like i used to in south texas.
i think it has to do with our deer densities being so high and the buck to doe ratios being off. this causes the bucks to have to service too many does and instead of just one big rut, we have several prolonged smaller ruts...

we are working hard to reduce our herd and bring doe to buck counts in line with our biologist recommendations.
