I know the rut has got to be over, because I saw 5 doe running togethor, then a decent buck about 800 yards away, by himself and paying no attention to the does... So what has anyone else seen in the Reklaw/Rusk area? So are they responding to calls right now?

They are still in full rut south of Hwy 21 in the Douglass area and around Lake Nacogdoches.
What day did you see them? With this new cold front coming in they should start moving around alot.

On my lease in Rusk County near Lake Striker, the rut has pretty much fizzled out. The peak was around the week before Thanksgiving. There will still be the occasional doe coming into heat through the end of the year but for the most part it's done.

I saw those five doe by themselves and that buck having nothing to do with them this morning (12/16). And yea I'm right around lake striker too, and I think the rut is fading out. from what i saw this morning anyways....

bucks chasing the late cycling does in the backyard in Nac Co. We usually see things heat up right around Christmas again and then another run toward the end of Jan.
