I am looking for an inexpensive whitetail doe hunt in Central Texas. My company was sold out so I cannot afford an expensive lease this year. I am looking for a meat hunt. I love venison but lost the venison I had when a storm knocked out my freezer. If any one can give me a lead, I would be very thankful.

Cannot help you with the doe hunt, but i am in a similar position this year, having lost my lease recently.
I decided to take the Public Hunting route this year, and bought the $48 APH permit. There is land all over the place to hunt, but not sure how great some of them are. You can even find additional places to hunt on this forum that arent in the TPWD Booklet.
Not sure if thats something that would interest you, but just letting you know.

Thanks Mike, but the last time I hunted land like that I never knew where any one was, saw no deer and stepped out on a road to find myself looking down two rifle barrels of "good old boys" hidden in the bushes just itching to shoot something. Scared me off public land for good and I don't scare easily. Not knowing who you are around and where they are is just not a safe way to hunt to me.

Hey Jerry, Thanks a lot for the info but Childress is a "loooong" way from Houston. I would probably be driving and hunting alone and I just can't drive that far for a doe hunt.

Hi Cullen, I am "new" to this site (just found it yesterday) and don't know how to contact you but would very much like to talk to you about your doe hunt offer. Sounds great. Can you please advise me as to how to contact you?
