We hunted first day of dove season with Stephen of
Red Leg Outfitters and was very disappointed.
All he was worried about was get our money for second
day and not letting us kill any birds.
I'll explain he leased 1 feild for 1 day then move us to a second feild the next day - he told me he only leased that feild for 1 day - other guys in our party he told he was saving for next group of guys.
Witch LIE do you beleive. Thanks for a bad time

go somewhere else and whine Troy.

2 hunts, 2 fields, sounds OK to me.

"Not letting us kill birds". Did he take your guns?

I would suggest you take this to the guy that you failed to check out well before you gave him your money.

Birds are birds. We had a ton a week before season, then they vanished. One other guide on here had great birds opening day and the next they were gone.

If you fell for "guaranteed limit", I would suggest you blame yourself.

Wow in some of the guide rants we get you can almost feel like you get some of both sides. This rant is so one sided it really makes me step back and wonder what "the rest of the story" is.

ha ha ha ha ha so let me get this right you paid how much? for 1 day? I am guessing 75 bucks right? well I paid 48 dollars for a public lands permit and shot my limit opening day! It pays to do your research. Had you checked the public lands back in August you would have seen thousands of acres of milo planted. They cut the fields a week before opening day smile we had a BLAST and I can go back as many times as I want without having to pay anymore money smile

Me and Stephen don't like each other but I am going to call bs on this one. I have never heard anyone say bad things about his operation in the years I have been on this forum.

Maybe first post under this name whistle

You don't just find the THF the day after a hunt to rant about no birds in the area.

Not to take either side in this... but if you didn't shoot any birds the first day on a feild/field and he offers to move you to a different place, sounds as though he is trying to get you on some birds. As the guy I got my lease from told me... he couldn't promise the birds would be there after opening morning or even opening morning. I saw one bird Thursday.... shot 8 yesterday and 2 this morning. Doves are a MIGRATORY ANIMAL ....
meaning they maybe here today, but gone tomorrow

I hunted Wednesday and Thursday on the same field I have hunted for 8 years. Took me all day to get a limit. Saw plenty of birds, but no one there to keep them moving. Killed 10 Thursday. Yes, it was hard hunting. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to start crying about a bad hunt. It's called hunting, not killing. Get over it and do your research next time!

Yup and yup.

The public lands us APH hunters can go on all year for $48 look the same as what someone who pays more than that just for 1 day sees.

I gave the winner of the THF duck contest last year a good run with ducks soley shot on public land.

Maybe you should talk with him instead of trying to blast him on a public forum.

What do you mean my not letting you shoot birds, like they were flying and he said dont shoot? Doubt it. Guides will let fields rest, that is the only thing that they can do to help manage all the variables with mirgratory birds.
I dont know Stephen personally, but i know at least 15 people that have hunted with him and said it was top notch. Going on a guided hunt people assume that they will limit out every time. They work there arses off to do what they can. And as everything there is to sides of the story. SO before you come on here bashing someone and his service why dont you talk with him personally. welcome

The only way I could see him being upset is if they were hunting in a giant birdcage and didn't see a single bird. rofl

I hunted the exact same little water hole....and when I say water hole that was being nice.....it was a trickle from a pipe that had runoff....

Limited out both days with just me and my dog there.....and both times just in about an hour.....

Hunting is what it is......just that.

Time is not wasted if you spend it with the ones you love.

I got ripped off too. They said the front moved the birds out 2 weeks ago and it would be slow. I have never filled two limits as fast as I did. Total rip off since the hunt was over early.
