New to Texas. Looking forward to Feral Hog hunting and coyote hunting. Live in Rockwall. In dire need of information about hunting and areas to hunt in. Can anyone help me out?

I just moved to Wylie area myself, from Texas.. I am looking for some land to lease or a place to go hunt hogs, varmits etc. I'll let you know if I find anything

Welcome fellas.

I have no hard info for you, other than there are many places fairly close by to hunt pigs and varmint on public land. TPWD will have that info on their site. You just have to buy a type II license, check the reg's at any specific location you want to go, and go hunting. I have a buddy that hunts various places with good success. But it is public land, so all the negatives that come with that should be considered too.

As for leases, you'll probably find it difficult to find just a hog and varmint lease, as most land that has good numbers of them will also have deer. And deer hunting will drive that price up. Day hunting for hogs and varmint is a very popular thing in Tx. There is a lease section of this board that will be a great help there, as well as replies you'll surely be getting to this RFI.

Sorry i can't just say, "go here". But keep digging and y'all will find something soon enough.

Welcome to the board.

Welcome to the board!

I am one of probably quite a few that either can't afford a lease or don't want to shell out the money for one.

I resort to public land. I went last year, saw some deer. One or two were probably shooters but I wasn't sure with the (forbidden word) restrictions so I didn't shoot.

As long as I'm in the woods with some good friends and some adult beverages, I'm a happy man.

Good Luck.

Disagree! Find out where the good 'old boys drink coffee every morning and just ask!
