Curious, has anyone ever tried calling the 800 number on the AMR website? Seems like there should/could be an avenue to report them as an illegitimate business and action be taken to shut him down? Guess this just shows that you can't be too careful when signing up for something, and keep records and paper trails of everything in case something goes south.

I understand the "hook" could be the religion and ministry push, but dang, I would do everything I could to shut this guy down to keep him from pulling this crap to good, hard working and HONEST folks.

I have had a couple of incidents on guided/outfitted hunts somewhat similar, and was very fortunate to have a good outcome. I just HATE crooks and glad the word is getting out on this fella!

Get ahold of the County Sheriff for Menard county, Also the local DA. They are both aware of Scott and what he's doing in their county. The Sheriff told us as soon as we were to file on him that he personally would go get Scott. Fortunately for us, with a little demanding Scott decided it was in his best interest to pay us back and wire transferred the money back to us.

The youtube video gave me the willies. 'Rhythm of it screams con. I couldn't make it very far. I'm gonna step out on a limb here and guess he's originally from deep east Texas. I live an extremely blessed life, and it infuriates me to hear the word "blessed" so overused by loons and confidence men. It turns more people off to Christ than leads them to Him, in my opinion.

History shows if you pressure this guy with lawyer legal, he will scam someone else for some cash and make refund to squeeky wheel to avoid further legal. Same story, different dance for 25+ years now. Seen it, know of him and even hunted with him (no money exchange) because he knew very damn well I knew all about him, that I had my attorney (that he knew very well) on speed dial. I watched him actually scam a goup (which I warned) while I was at one of his camps. It looks like $ deposit for property showing and then he no shows/cancels is one of newest added Rob Peter to Pay Paul. At times, he can make Bob "Jilton" look like an amatuer. Sad. He'll disappear now for a period of time back down to Costa Rica now and resurface again in about 2 years. This is sad because this history is easily discoverable before someone gets scammed.

Not only hunters, vendors as well. This guy will cheat anybody he can. It was a feed/grain dealer that he tried to stiff for $12,000.00 that got my ears up. Seems that he was conveniently absent for a planned delivery of a load of feed. Promised to mail a check that day over the phone. Not wanting to turn around with the feed it was delivered by the driver. It was months of delays and excuses for not paying. Finally, after being outed on this forum he agreed to pay, if the thread would be taken down. Shameless.

Wow, so glad someone finally exposed him.

My grandfather purchased an axis hunt from him at a Church auction for over $5,000 for me for my college graduation present.

Long story short, there were no axis on the ranch. We confronted him about it and said we could hunt whitetail. It was a 150 acre high fence trap with poor looking whitetails and some little scrub bucks. For $5,000 we said no thanks, let's get rebooked. He said he had them at another ranch. We did and went to another ranch and same thing. A few blackbuck in a small high fence trap.

The guy is an absolute POS.

He got me on 1200 Acres Boy Scouts property On Bobcat lane and he won’t answer phone. I paid people to help bring blinds and feeder and will have to pay for help again to move. He wouldn’t let me put RV and stuff on lease so he had me store it at another property, never heard from him since.

Former AMR Member here and I wasn't burned like others. I actually paid and hunted the properties through their family membership, harvesting many animals. Seeing how many of you got burned by him extremely unsettling and I hope you all find justice. Since we are all sharing in the name of trust and doing the right thing, I have some information that may help inform others... Read on and decide for yourself.

There appears to be another outfit taking over the AMR memberships. I know this, because I received an email from the new company.

American Heritage Sporting Club (AHSC) - which, according to the Texas Comptroller site, was just established on February 14, 2024.

There are many interesting connections between AMR and AHSC, but I'll share just a few:

1. AHSC is emailing AMR members they are taking over and requesting people to sign up before June 1, 2024 on the AHSC site. Within the site, they are using the same faith-based sales pitch that was on the AMR site (when it was active)... and it isn't just kind of similar. The pitch is nearly a verbatim regurgitation of the same story. Coincidence? Here is a snip of the email I received from AHSC:



2. As you can see on the site and in the email, Scott isn't named as a team member of AHSC. Even so, direct links can be found between the AHSC Chairman and Scott Huggins:
A simple google search of their names yielded a Facebook post from January 12, 2022, where a Houston company thanks 5 people for a weekend on the Coralina ranch (a property I personally hunted while it was managed by AMR). The Chairman of AHSC and Scott are two of the five people being thanked.

3. There are already six 5-star ratings on their website claiming all their great experiences in the past with AHSC... but hasn't AHSC only been in existence for 18 days as of this post?

My take on it - This transition to AHSC feels like the same old thing, different company name. Good luck out there!
