hogs are everywhere around Lake Grapevine, Southlake is no exception.

PS - there's also a nice breeding population of wild peacocks on the south end of the lake that are starting to make their way into southlake. Ask anyone in Southlake that lives close to the 'vine

It's one thing for hogs to be on the south end of town but the north end is just funny to me. It might not be funny for the residents but when they start running around Timmaron Golf Course then it's just gonna be to much for those guys out there to handle!

I live in Grapevine haven't seen any hogs however have trapped several opossums in my trash can. I called animal control to come by and pick one up, after he grabbed him out of the trash can and popped him in truck he asked if we wanted to see what else he had on the truck. So my son and my daughter and I went out to look he opened up one of the doors on the back of his truck and inside was a bob cat he said it weighed about 50 pounds it was in live trap. He picked it less than 1/2 mile from where I live near 121 AND Hall Johnson road.

I don't know anything about bobcats but I think thats what he said. Any way I was just surprised it was trapped just 1/2 mile from my house. Here is the picture from my camera phone:

Here is opossum:

One of my best friends is from southlake and some of my hunting buddies live in Vaquero. They may be rich but I could see them having no issues with sitting on the golf course shooting hogs, however their neighbors might not be too happy.

In the 30's lbs range maybe. Go see pic from Bowtechhunter's where his son killed bobcat at 42 lbs. You'll see the difference! HUGE cat.

That would be funny watching a bunch of rednecks on golf cart mowing down hogs in between $2-$3 million homes....

Thanks

It would be better being one of those rednecks.

I agree. I would rather be a redneck than pay $125,000 to join to a club so I could hit a ball in a hole and say that was fun...My partner plays there alot and I have really dont understand the draw...I like my Vaquero hat though....

Thanks

Sometimes it pays to be a bowhunter in a nice neighborhood! I haven't seen them yet, but can't wait till I do.

I agree with BaylorChase. I live in southlake and i dont see how the people would have a problem. I know way to many people who would love to hunt a golf course. To bad you cant duck hunt the golf course. Seems like another person is taking a shot at southlake.

I sometimes run my dog on the horse trails by Bob Jones park. I have never seen a hog but I can tell that they have been around.

DPD- I remember that doe on the shoulder of 114 last year, there were actually two of them in a one week period. I don't think it is surprising at all that there are still deer in the area. A lot of people up there have small acreage and I have seen deer in far more populated place.

According to an article two years back in the Austin Statesman when they interviewed biologist about the size of bobcats he said that less than ten percent will make it to the 45+ pound range.

The story ran as a friend of mine, that guides in the hill country came upona trophy buck at a feeder with it's neck snapped. So he waited for the cat to come back (thinking it might be a lion)....and shot the trophy bobcat that did go fifty pounds. Broke and mangled the neck of the buck. Crazy story.

I work in the southern part of Irving and drive through Grand Prairie every morning. Thre is one little backroad, surrounded by houses though, that borders the Grand Prairie Dump. I see hogs all the time on that back road. I guess they follow the Trinity up. I'm sure they find a few meals in the dump as well.

Hogs are like info-mercials, they are everywhere!
