JR's in Ranger. Great Jerky and all types of sausage! Where is JR's? Have been going to either Rust Deer Plant in Cisco or TD's in Strawn.

Rust Game Place in New Braunfels. I live in Leander and it is worth the drive down there for my processing. This is an old friend of my family and the recipie they use is the same my grandfather used when they would make 100 pounds of deer sausage for the entire year back in the day. The best smoked sausage I have had. I also recommend Cosper's Meat Market in Killeen as they have some of the best prices on burger, pan, and fresh sausages like Italian, Polish, and Brats. I bring boned out meat to them and get it made for $1 a pound! Brizendine's in Bertram is also good. They have a new website: www.brizendinesdeer.com

Hi, Are there any butchers or processors for turkey and/or venison/deer from Decatur to North Dallas? I heard that there's one in Decatur on fm 730 south. However, I have googled 'till my face is blue but cannot find the phone and/or address for this butcher in Decatur. Please advise. Thanks,

We use K and G Deer Processing in Kerrville. Although we hunt in Harper, he is worth the 35 minute drive. Guaranteed to get all your deer and only your deer. He does it up right, many different flavors of sausage too, just as you like it. Does all the game anamals, none to small or too big. Right next door is an award winning taxidermist too, Glenn will send the animal over if you like. Glenn is a former military man and served his country well, still does. He works on donating deer for the hungry programs and donated his time on ranches that provide meat for the disadvantaged. Straight up guy and family man.

My kitchen table. Although I only do my own. Learn how to do it yourself, like the old timers, and you'll save a ton of money. Plus, you'll like the taste and tenderness much better. I can't speak for all processors, but most of the time you don't get your own deer back. In addition, they don't have time to trim off all of the stuff that makes it tough and "gamey" tasting. My family has hunted for generations, and each generation (father to son), teaches the next how to do it. It's rewarding and fun. You'll respect the animal you harvest much more, waste less meat, and become the complete hunter instead of doing the easy part which is killing it then paying some stranger do all the hard work in processing it. Buy a grinder, good trimming knives, seasoning recipes, and packaging paper and enjoy the results. Other than all that, I've got a ggod buddy that processes in Breckenrige. Those guys do it right, you get your own deer back, and their reviews are great. Go there if anywhere.

I noticed someone asked about Vernon earlier in the thread, and I used Cracker Barrel there in town for the last 5 years, but decided to make a change. Last year, didn't get near the amount of meat I should have, and the guy isn't the friendliest cat out there. I know they screwed up my order, because I got two more backstraps than I should have...
The previous owners were great, and the smoked sausage was outstanding, but it's gone downhill since.
I just dropped off two does at Fischer's in Muenster, so I'll let you know how that goes. I can tell you my experience dropping it off was much better. Prices are about .50 higher though.
I have heard great things about Bayco in Seymour.
