Saw eight does and two of the does had twin fawns, and I shot the biggest doe that didn't have any fawns, and she was really in good shape with a lot of fat on the hindquarters. Double lung and she ran about 80 yards bled out really good.

Saw eight more this evening and one was a long horned spike, also about 15 turkeys that ran the deer off, and then the rain hit just before I was going to call it quits right at dark, and I ended up getting drenched.

All in all it was one of the best openers I've had in a long time.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

First bowhunt as well. Sat in a popup this morning and got busted three different times. Don't think we got winded, I think they saw the blind and since it hadn't been there before they went on alert. So we hung a trestand and sat this afternoon. Saw a young doe and fawn, then a nice mature doe. I was just having fun wacthing deer within spitting distance and didn't shoot. But was one of my favorite hunts, I am gonna like this bow hunting thing.

Just got back hunting Hwy_Mans ranch. Heres what I had come in. 2 fawns, no momma, I guess they are already kicked out the door. One basket young 6. Then about 715 pm, 4 more bucks. One nice heavy horned 8, but still young. Another 6, a 4 point and a spike. Also blues quail and dove. It was nice just sitting and watching, and yes the rain is on.

Mike had quite a few come in also, he was more scouting then hunting. He said he had a really nice wide older deer, just wasn't sure how many points. The midget had twin fawns come in, not sure what else he saw. They are trying again tomarrow, I have plans with my girls, so maybe another day. Had a blast as always. I must be getting old. It's not so much harvesting game, it's just fun watching .

So here's mine. I set up in a stand that had good trails and only saw 15 pigs that were about 100 yards off. So got down headead into town to get something to eat. Came back to walk to the very back of the property, came a foot from stepping on a copperhead half a mile from the truck. Half way through our place my dad and I walk up on 5 pigs. I get within 40 yards but no shot at 30 or closer which is what I am limiting myself to due to consistency. Got the blood flowing though. On the way back to the truck

What happened in yalls neck of the woods?

Yeah, I think Mike likes seeing other people hunt more than hunting himself. Good luck guys.

The only thing that had been showing on my game cam was a spike. Two buck county this year, so I passed on two herds of hogs waiting on him. Never came. I was hunting with my old crossbow because I could, but the evening hunt was to be with the compound. Back at camp I saw more Dove flying than I have ever seen on the lease. So sorry guys it turned into a Dove hunting day after that. Gotta work Sunday, but I will be back to try again soon. I now have a second stand set up where I think a big boy may be passing through. And less hogs. So I should have better prospects next time out.

Yeah it looked like a great shot, just glad it was a nasty ol' hog instead of a big buck!! If it hadn't been raining so bad I really think I would have found it.

I got skunked the whole weekend. not that suprising though. THe feeder is in a new spot and it hasn't been feeding. It has a new battery but every time it was supposed to go off it would spin for about 1 second and then reset everything and not go off. Plus the moon was bright as the sun on friday night and it rained the rest of the weekend. Not mad at the rain at all, eventhough it killed my hunting. Sat morning a bunch of cows, sat evening rain, sun morning rain.

Eventhough I didn't see anything it was great to be out in the stand again. It was still a successful weekend. It hurt though because we had been out there since Thursday a.m.

Well new to the forum and new to bow hunting. Had a great weekend just being out in the bush. Set in a ground blind Sat. am. then camo net blind in the pm. Saw nothing but that herd of skeeters, then a rainout. Did the pm. today. 6hogs, creeped to about 50yds and busted. I should have thrown an arrow out there anyway. Damn the luck. I will practice on a long lobbed shot this week.

Hogs, nuthin' but hogs. Did not see a deer all weekend. Full moon and hogs all over the place ruined it, at least that is my story. I was supposed to stay until Tuesday but decided to come home early.

It was nice to be in my tree though, no complaints here.

I climbed up in my blind a few minutes before light Saturday morning, fighting off mosquitoes. I didn’t even get a chance to set down when a doe appeared 32 yards in front of me. I just put my release on and turned and grabbed the bow, the doe made her way out about 37 yards and she caught a broad head right behind her front shoulders!! This was too easy, but I will take it.
My buddy's all seen deer or hogs opening morning, one made a shot with a crossbow. He used the bottom of the window in his stand for a rest, this made the crossbow sound like a 22 when it went off, hog spun around a got shot in the arzz...never found the hog. Sunday morning, rain..rain..and more rain.

We are hunting in Harrison county - East Texas

Good luck to everyone and safe hunting

nice one Stan!

I went out saturday morning and only saw 1 doe, in the distance. evening hunt saw same thing.... but i did have a skunk walk up to my popup blind within 10 feet and stay there for about 20 minutes. had my buddy in my blind with me. he wants to start hunting. both of us were pretty puckered up for the 20 minutes that the skunk was there. that would have made for a long ride home if we spooked it and got sprayed!

No deer for me. One giant hog after dark last night and the mini-sniper in the truck. I tried the headlight (green LED) but even though I could see the pig but the glare was so bad off the sight and bow when I drew I could no longer see. He was upset too. He circled and growled for about 5 minutes before moving off. And me with no hand gun.

Oh well, maybe I can get in one more hunt Friday evening before I fish a two day tournament on Sat and Sun.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

Saw 7 deer, does, fawns, and two young bucks. did see some P&Y cows at the feeder. No hogs, either. Acorns are dropping and nothing at the feeders.

First bow season for me. We have a place that is covered up with deer. My intentions were to shoot does. Saturday morning there were deer feeding in the field when I went in. Got in the stand and about daylight had 5 does pass out of range. I had 5 different bucks inside 30 yards 1 nice eight. I had about 20 does feeding in the field behind me. After I finished hunting I leaned a ladder stand in the fence line along the field. Saturday afternoon I had a bachelor group of 5 pass right under me one of which was over 130. All does were spooked at the ladder stand and passed out of range. Easily saw 75 deer this weekend just could not get a shot at the does.
