Sunnyhill bottom metal

I built a 416 Hoffman for a buddy and just finished it. I used that bottom metal for the first time...they are proud of them but dang are they nice. I wish I could afford to recommend and use them on everything...but at 2x it's tough for most (myself included) to swallow for other cartridges.

Like I said elsewhere, the scope is the only thing I'd change...and that's just my opinion!

Structurally not necessary for recoil reasons. That said the majority of the breaks at wrists are from sources outside of shooting, and those aren’t predictable. Extended tangs are merely added insurance/assurance. Certainly in the grand scheme of a rifle that will last several lifetimes; used on hunts with great investment, money well spent. Plus they’re purdy.

The scope choice came with great chastisement from the commissioners siblings kid, whom I built a rifle for years ago. I took the diplomatic approach and gave him what he wanted.

Fair enough...and that wrist seems almost dainty. Like a 5 weight flyrod that launches 300 grain flies! And those tangs are more than purdy...they're GORGEOUS!

For lion in poor light or leopard over bait, yeah, I can (kinda) understand the scope choice. Your choice of a Swaro 2-8 (or my go-to Leupy 1.5-5) would just LOOK better! It's the client's nickel, though!
