I'm trying to figure out how much it would cost for me to do this myself vs hiring a professional to do this. I want to extend a small portion of our back porch 2 feet and build a square concrete island to put an Egg or Kamado Joe on. Do y'all think I should even mess with this? Given the size of this project, would anyone even quote it?

Need some pictures on what you're trying to do. Sounds small not sure you can find someone to even mess with it.

It is small, here’s a picture. Extend it out 2ft and the length is 61”. That grill just sticks out right next to the back door so it’s kind of an eye sore. Also want to get rid of that one to buy an egg or Kamado so that’s why a small island would work perfect right there.

Do it yourself, the slab is easy the brick will be fun.

YouTube it.

something that small, might even think about doing it dry pour. I've never tried this on a slab but have used it for setting stepping stones.

dry pour 1

dry pour 2

looks easy enough to DIY

You can do it yourself EZ job. I'd go 4' at least you'll need it.
Sackcreat, sand, rebar, a few 2x6's you'll be good to go. Make sure it's square & level.
You'll need to drill into the existing slab and glue some rebar in to make sure the slabs stay together.
