For the last couple of months we've been trying to catch some turkeys on my place to band and release or relocate.
I had an old hog trap a neighbor had given me some time ago that was a good candidate for upgrading.
Got the tractor and relocated it under a tree and hung up a feeder over it and loaded it with some cracked corn.
I had a gate latch and a heavy spring lying around and that solved the door needs.
Trying to figure out how to trigger it from around 100 yards away took a little thinking. I didn't want to try and use string or wire that far.

So I ended up ordering a remote control, a linear actuator and a dipole switch off of Amazon.

I put it all inside a plastic shot shell box from Academy which is cheap but has a rubber lid seal.

The dipole switch was needed to get the in or out action. Once the trap is sprung you have to release the gate and reset it and reverse the actuator.

Pressing the remote retracts the actuator and pulls the cable that's attached to the gate latch in, releasing the door.

Haven't caught anything in it yet, but the turkeys are already used to it.

That is awesome!

Would you care to share the Amazon links to the remote control, linear actuator and dipole switch?

Can i ask why you want to band the turkeys?

Is this for internal info when shot?

Sure thing-

Here's the switch: Switch

Feeder remote: Remote

Actuator: Actuator

Actually it's for TP&W. Yesterday we caught 2 gobblers and 3 hens and banded them and released them. Here's me releasing one of the hens:
