This makes it difficult for rifles, shotguns and handguns. So pick your brand loyalty for each one. If you had to choose only one, which one would it be?
Me, I love Tikka rifles especially if I'm going to build a custom rifle. The action is one of the smoothest out of box actions I've ever come across. It's a killer foundation for a custom rifle
Pistols, since I can only choose one, I'll go with S&W
Shotguns, Benelli
Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

I still love Ruger but their warranty process is BS. 40 bucks from me to send them something that is their fault. It made me a customer for Kidd and Volquartsen.

Rifles- Bergara As much as I like Tikka, Im not going to be pigeonholed into their meduimish length action and there is more time to pass before the aftermarket accessories become more mainstream.
Pistols- Glock Revolvers- Ruger Shotgun- Benelli Lever Guns- original Marlins

Rifle, I used to be Savage loyal, but that was quite some time ago. I liked them because they were always accurate and low price point. They have lost me since I have discovered that there are other bolt actions that will extract and feed smoothly. Currently, I have zero brand loyalty on rifles. My current go-to is an old Rem 788.
Pistols, Ruger for wheel guns and Sig for semiautos.
Shotguns, I only shoot them when it is necessary.

Pistols- Glock Revolvers- Ruger Shotgun- Benelli Lever Guns- original Marlins I've really gotten into pre-64 lever actions over the past few years, I just love'um. I have three pre-64 Win Model 94's: 1940 30 WCF, my pops mid 40's .32 Win Special, 1959 30-30 and a gorgeous 1947 Marlin 36-RC 30 30 color case hardened. I also have my pops 1965 Win 94 30-30. I picked up a full box on Western 30 WCF from 1906. I had it verified from the Cody Firearms museum. A box of Western .32 Win special from 1929 again verified and a 1950 box of 30-30. All of these will get passed down to my kids. I still shoot the post 64 30-30.

Pistols: Springfield Rifles: Springfield Shotguns is a tough one, but overall I'd probably end up with a Winchester If I get a number four and can do revolvers separate, it would probably be a bfr

How do you pick? All manufacturers have their high and low points. I do know I prefer Browning O/U shotguns 20ga. However I killed every bird this year with a Win 101 light 12ga because my dad shot it the last few years of his life and it’s nice. That’s the first 12 I’ve ever shot, The old man went to 12 because his eyesight was failing. I have killed some bird I know I would have missed with a 20 when I was off. I gave my oldest son that’s 16 now a Ruger Red Label 20 that has been passed down F/M. Its a blue quail killing champ. I hardly missed with it from 8yrs to 25. I believe the perfect gauge for shotguns is a 16 but the shells are too expensive. I cant pick a favorite shotgun. I like one of my A5’s for dove hunting. This year I may switch back to the 20 Superposed for weight quail hunting and because it’s badass. I just looked in the safe and I have 4 favorites out of 15.
I liked a Remington 700 for the quick safety when I was walking rimrock but now prefer a M70 rifle for killing deer out of a blind because it’s prettier.
Out of the pistols I have I’m going with whatever I can grab first. A High Power shoots the best for me.

Rifles- I guess it would be Ruger. They don’t make junk, not even at a price point. If you include the .22 mag, I’ve bought four American rifles and only sold one. I’d pay top dollar to get it back. They all shoot sub-moa with factory ammunition. Now that Marlin is a Ruger brand, I don’t see myself shooting anything different. Might look elsewhere for an AR. Shotguns- Mossberg and Remington are almost all I know, but I prefer a Mossberg. I am never more confident than when I have that 835 in my hands. Pistols- I don’t own a pistol 🤷♂️. But I still like Ruger best. My love for Ruger probably comes from Hank Jr. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/download/Number/49316/filename/EE7ECF48-F20B-4F84-9704-94DB771AFF52.png)

Tough because different brands make different things catered to specific needs that trump what another brand does or doesn't do well writ large. But that said:
Rifle: Tikka Semi Auto pistol: Sig Revolver: tough battle between Colt and S&W, but S&W if I had to pick Shotgun: Beretta Lever: Winchester

Not big fan of any brands, current builds aren't the quality of early versions. There are some accurate firearms built but the hands on quality is thing of the past in major brands. The old Remingtons are better built than new Winchesters. Still decent arms but just not same level. But I have access to Model 21's and original Model 12's and pre 64 rifles. I prefer pinned and recessed S&W's, my 1911 and Python came in card board boxes...not plastic like the guns. I carry a S&W Shield and like the SIg 365 XL but still like timeless quality in firearms also

Setting aside my individual favorite guns, my overall pick in terms of a manufacturer would be Ruger,

Pistol: Ruger
Shotgun: Benelli.

Ruger is my favorite firearms manufacturer. They make good stuff and they have a lot of cool products, classics like Blackhawk, 10/22, Mini 14, No 1, 77, Mark series. They also have modern products like Americans, ARs, PC carbines, RPR.
Really surprised that haven’t jumped back in the shotguns especially a solid semi automatic offering.
That said, I like Tikka and Ruger for rifles, Glock for handguns and have no preference for shotguns.

I still love Ruger but their warranty process is BS. 40 bucks from me to send them something that is their fault. It made me a customer for Kidd and Volquartsen. Yeah, and you get to talk to Mable who really doesn't have time to practice her customer service skills.

Bergara rifles.
I haven't found anything more accurate from the factory. Their stock trigger could pass for an aftermarket upgrade.

I know Remington isn’t what it used to be but the ones we have are all old. I’d have to go Remington on rifle, ruger for pistols, and my old 870 is the only shotgun I’ve ever owned so Remington for it too.

Ruger M77 Sig P226/229 Ruger GP100 Beretta 1301 I don't bird hunt, so this is just fine.
Not sure on lever guns right now. I have a Rossi .357 Trapper that has been great. My eldest has a Henry .357 that he likes. I haven't handled the Ruger/Marlins.

Great topic and good read so far.
Sig for rifles only because they seem like the only manufacturer that produced very high quality bolt and semi rifles. Sig or H&K for pistols Beretta for sure on shotguns
I'm a little disappointed in myself for not having an American manufacturer...or should I be disappointed in America?!?!?
I'm a dude who likes long barrels!

I’ve never really thought of myself as a brand loyal kind of guy but for some reason I keep going back to Savage rifles. Just when I’ve sold them all off I look around and find a deal on an action and then there’s 5 in the safe.
Shotguns I like Remington semi autos and for pistols you can’t beat a nice Ruger P series 9mm. They’re built like tanks and I love a good hammer fired pistol.

My favorite brand of rifle is Weatherby. I’m left handed and they always kept a few left hand bolt guns in their Mark V like.
Pistols, I’m a Glock guy. If I had to have one pistol it would be a Glock 19.
Shotguns….thats like asking a person to name their favorite woman. Too many good things about so many, you can’t honestly pick a favorite.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
