Welcome to the club!

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

Welcome to the club.
Don't forget to set up your income tax deduction so you don't get a tax penalty when you file your tax return.
I wasn't expecting that on 3 months of drawing mine, but the IRS sure remembered.

Now, you can watch all of those YouTube videos about whether it is better to take it @ 62, FTA or waiting until 70. I started @ 62 and been getting mailbox $$$ for 4 years now. I will say that if you still enjoy your job, work until FTA. I was laid off at the height of Covid and 3 months before turning 62, so I just decided to retire. I had 2 opportunities to go back to my company but we couldn`t agree on $$ or hours to work (I wanted part time). If you hate your job..........quit as soon as you can afford to quit though. Enjoy the time you have left....it goes fast.

None of them enjoyed any retirement or received a dime of the money they paid into the system. One was found dead from a heart attack in his front yard and the other 2 would die in a hospital bed from Covid. Rest in peace James, Joel and Kent.

Welcome to the club! I began collecting when Medicare kicked in at age 65.

I shut down my business and retired at 67. Now 82. Now, neckties are only for weddings and funerals. Wife, younger than me, retired at 65 a couple of years ago. Prior to retiring, I got us debt free and we still are. That makes us able to do just about anything, within reason, that we want to. Retirement funds are healthy and we keep them that way. Mostly live on Social Security and watch out for pissing away money on junk or toys. Hunted Africa and no desire to do that again.

Within reason is important. I no longer buy new guns, tools or fishing gear. Heck, I have more of those than anybody I know. I have more reloading gear, knife making stuff, and hand tools than I’ll ever use. Pissing away money on toys ended some time back because there’s nothing I want. Damn sure nothing I need.

I have 133 acres of junk land 70 miles from home. White trash trailer house, outbuildings, stock tank fishing holes, shipping containers, 4 wheelers and tractors. Junk land is an understatement and POS is more accurate. All trees, rocks, 2 station shooting range, fishing holes and roads only suitable for tractor or 4 wheelers.

I love that place but, due to arthritis, have to let the grown grandsons, their hunting buddies, granddaughters husbands, and son in law to do the heavy lifting and 90% of miscellaneous stuff. I hate that part but I have to face reality about arthritis and no longer being young. Damn sure not old but no longer young. Problems are generally fixed before the old guy finds out or starts worrying about them. It’s also the place that various grandkids have gone to from Fort Worth and lost their virginity.

Need to sell the place because I’m not using it like I once did but don’t need the money. One of my friends that knows the place told me that, when I finally get around to dieing, my widow will get a lot better looking to old goats that like to hunt and fish.

At Cracker Barrel on weekdays, seniors aged 55 and over can receive a 10% discount on their meal by presenting a valid photo ID to their server. This discount is only available Monday through Thursday and is not available on weekends.

Thanks for posting that Norml. Always enjoyed Cracker Barrel but just haven’t been in years. If I’m ever in the vicinity, I’ll go there. If I remember.

Chicken Express gives seniors a 10% off discount where we live. Don’t know if all of them will.

Your bank may be processing it quicker. 3 years and I’ve never received it even 1 day early.

Always exactly on time for me too but for two or three months it’s been almost a week earlier.

Same here, and I'm seven years in. The payment used to show up in my account on the third Wednesday. The last few months have been early by 1-5 days.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.
