So, with the help of this forum I asked about recommendations on hunting coyotes because I am surrounded by large groups of howling yotes nightly and I started to find yote poop within 30 yards of my house! (If they stayed away, fine. However, i have mice eating barn cats i want to keep alive, so yotes need to learn their boundaries.)

ANYWAY, how come every single yote I have killed so far is about the size of a large cat? Clearly, just young pups. (I will guess 20lbs or less). Hell, my money at this point would be on my barn cats in a fight with these yotes!

I realize the adults are smarter…but id sure like to start dropping some adults at some point!

These two are from last nights call…i checked them out this morning!

Chances are, you are dealing with a litter from last year. Average litter size is about 6, so you may have a few more to kill. The pups will be looking for an easy meal as they are not as good hunting as their parents would be. If the food source is reduced in the area, all of the coyotes will get bolder as they move closer to make a living. Bad news is you could have another litter or more in a month or so.
Good luck and Adios,
Gary
