My most recent inteation with LEO and very similar to others - Bubba, never met him before, pulled me over on a FM road when I was hurriedly coming back from Leakey to our place in Rio Frio. He came up to the truck and asked if I was in a hurry. I responded, "Yes and I have a loaded gun in the car." He asked if I was going to use it on him and I responded no, it was not intended for him. When he asked "Why the hurry?", I reponded with - "Wifeypoo is actually cooking breakfast this morning and I don't want to miss it.". He told me to get along the way and to slow down.

Growing up it was Garland PD that always had a reputation for being hardarses, but I never personally ran into it. I try and be polite and show respect when pulled over. Only had one instance where I ran into a jerk… and I was a 19 year old kid and speeding so some of that was on me.

My cousin heads up the highway patrol for Maricopa County in AZ and has been with them about 30 years now. We grew up watching Paunch and John on CHiPs and he just knew it was for him. Years ago, his partner’s life was ended when a guy he had pulled over sliced his throat after a scuffle that ensued from a normal traffic stop.

Needless to say my hat goes off to all of you who proudly wear the badge and are committed to protecting and serving. You have my respect and admiration!

I have had an overall positive experience with law enforcement. Am friends with a few cops.

I’ve been let off more times than I care to admit including once when I absolutely, no questions asked should have gone to jail.

I have ran into two bad ones ( bad as in just Richard’s for no good reason) in my life but if I want to get sour on cops I remember all the ones who let me slide.

It’s a hard profession. Especially in today’s time and what they have to deal with, they are under a constant microscope.

Some are jerks just because a certain percentage of the population just is…but many of them are because they are constantly being lied to and they see the worst of people everyday.

I could never be a cop, I’d hate everyone and never believe anyone.

Smart money is that anyone who was garlandized wasn't on their way to church.

After a few years it’s apparent that being lied to, assaulted, shot or any other thing isn’t personal. It’s just business. Bad guys hate the police and always will. They don’t know the officers personally, they just hate cops.

Absolutely! I have no patience for bad cops and I'll get them run off quicker than anyone. My profession means something to me, and I believe it should mean the same to every other officer out there. If it doesn't, they need to be gone.

I bet many of them that would never sign up have criminal histories or acts of moral turpitude that would prevent them from passing the background check anyway.

I for darn sure am not gonna rush out there and apply to do the job, not for the peanuts they are paying. There are too many ways to make so much more money than cops are paid.

I feel like they should be getting at least 6 figures to start. Especially in these modern times. Probably wouldn’t be so hard to find dudes that make it through the vetting process if the job paid a decent wage.

I have friends that are Troopers and County Sheriff Deputies but no city cop friends. Not sure what that means but I live in a County Seat that also has a DPS office so there's plenty to see around here.

Happens all the time, especially in smaller communities.

Give us a documented example where the reprisal resulted in a conviction of official oppression or formal discipline.

According to what data or evidence? Bad cops usually don't last long in law enforcement, my personal experience started in the 1970s and ended in 2022...I never knew of a bad cop who lasted very long anywhere, even in the 1970s bad cops were weeded out quickly, most don't make it through field training.

Some of ya’ll are telling on yourselves. On this forum there are a handful of active and retired members of law enforcement that will back up the system and each other without exception. That’s a red flag if I ever saw one.

All I'm saying is that if you are going to post blanket statements about police and the community, please post some sort of fact or proof to back up your claim.
