What did you do? Where did you go?

I recently came across pics and videos of our honeymoon we took in Nashville over a weekend back in 2004. Our visit happened to coincide with what used to be called Fan Fair, now CMA Music Festival. I snagged some free tickets so on the first night we went, and come to find out, Pat Green was the host. This was just after "Wave on Wave" had made it big.

Pat doing welcomes and introductions.

Chris Cagle and Bret Michaels doing "Every Rose Has it's Thorn."
[Linked Image]

Glen Campbell doing his gems like "Southern Nights" and "Galveston."
[Linked Image]

Darryl Worley. The whole stadium stood when he did "Have You Forgotten?"
[Linked Image]

Dierks Bentley doing "What Was I thinking?"
[Linked Image]

Pat doing "Threadbare Gypsy Soul" with Willie Nelson.

Hank Jr. (and an Astro behind him...) Hank was pretty much the climax with "A Country Boy Can Survive."

Here are a couple of videos from the evening.

The next evening found us on a dinner cruise on the General Jackson river boat on the Cumberland River. A group of Chinese acrobats were booked for the main event. They were pretty incredible.

Our final evening found us at the Grand Ole Opry watching some true pioneers.

Closed out with David Lee Murphy singing about "Dust on the Bottle."

Hey Oscar, it ain't hard. I'm sorry you cannot see the value in spending the weekend in Nashville, a pretty cool city (at least in 2004), with your soulmate listening to some great music. Not all of the music was super awesome, but hearing the likes of Glen Campbell, Hank Jr., Willie, and Little Jimmy Dickens was pretty much a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

It must be a tremendous burden living on such a high horse that you have to criticize everyone and everything that you don't 100% align with. But please, keep witnessing to us all of your Christian virtue while spewing poison from the other side of your mouth.

I was a bartender paying my way through school. Daddy high rolled it getting us flights to Harlingen where we stayed at the Fort Brown which is no longer there. If we have photos, I would have no idea where they are. Doesn't really matter. Especially with Matamoros and Port Isabel, it was magical.

Kry226 I bet that was a wonderful Honeymoon weekend, thanks for sharing!

Married in 1995, we were suppose to go to Robinson Club in Tulum, Mexico for 7 days, an all inclusive resort with golf.
My wifes best friend announced she was getting married the very next weekend after our marriage, so instead of 7 days in Tulum, we did 4 days at all inclusive Sandals resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica so we would make it back in time for her wedding.

Sandals Ocho Rios facility was nice, their private beach sucked, it was small fenced off area with lots of rocks in the water.

Side note;

We are going to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in Fredericksburg and Boerne this weekend. Staying in Fredericksburg Friday and Saturday, then Boerne on Sunday so I can play golf at Tapatio Springs golf course with a buddy of mine.

My aunt and uncle let us spend our honeymoon at their house in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Its an amazing place encompassing the whole top floor and roof top of a building on the side of the mountain over looking the bay. We could open the large french doors and let the cool ocean breeze blow through.

We had a small private inexpensive wedding. Instead of an expensive wedding we splurged and went to Cabo for a week. Back then Cabo was nice and much safer. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and ate lots of really delicious food.

Our 20th anniversary honeymoon has been traded for a newly constructed house and a future first round draft pick.

Tiny wedding with only the minister and four family members on a remote bluff above the Pacific Ocean near Los Osos, CA. It was a spot that we visited many times before. Then a leisurely road trip up the coast in my 1976 full-sized Cherokee. Combination of camping and hotels all the way up around the Olympic peninsula with side trips. Spent a couple of days at the Lake Crescent Lodge in WA then a wandering drive home. It was idyllic to us almost 40 years ago.

A Democracy is when two wolves and a lamb vote on the dinner menu. That is why this country was specifically not designed as a Democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.

We went to Puerto Vallarta for six days. Unimog tour of the jungle and outlying areas, bay fishing (and the resort cooked our catch and served it to us in a private dining room), Tequila factory tour, city tour of several historic churches and landmarks. Finished it off with a boat ride across the bay to a remote spot where we watched the staged performance of an Aztec/Mayan wedding ceremony, followed up by secluded dining at a table on a rock outcropping overlooking the beach and bay. Absolutely wonderful trip. Sorry, no pics, they're all on film.

This summer, for our 20th anniversary, we're doing an Alaskan cruise with a group of close friends.
