Any kind of exercise is good, Walking, Jogging, Biking, Weights, Eliptical
I plan on exercising until I drop dead or my body won't let me anymore
I feel so much better, more relaxed and happy when I exercise daily
Even just walking about an hour a day keeps me mentally and physically healthy.

IMHO is the best benefit for older folks and occupation that are physically nonactive. Big toe strength is a pretty strong indicator of longevity, due to is predictive nature of falling or not. Mobility is spice of life. Moral of my post, don’t skip leg day

I go just about every morning to a close city park and walk the mile track; except for cold windy mornings. Also keep the spring squeeze grips handy and the heavy duty stretch bands next to my recliner. I’m retired.

walking is all i do.
lazies I lift. I've skipped leg the last 20 years but play 1-2 hours of pickleball 5 days per week with really fit, younger guys. My legs are in better shape than they were when I was running mud runs and caveman crawls. I do zero prep exercise before ski trips and have no soreness or weakness at all and hang with my grand kids. I just never liked doing leg exercises, I found activities to replace those exercises. (Uphill running on an elliptical trainer)

lazies Leg day can be as simple as doing 50 chair squats in sets of 5. Or going to Scheels and walking the stairs etc. Just need to give the lower half an individual focus on more resistance then just a flat walk once a week, but walking is very good base line.

I have to get back to lifting and working my legs. I had to pick up an 85# squirming Yellow Lab yesterday 4 time taking her to the vet and back home. Don't know if it was the weight or her not being wanting to be lifted, but it was harder than it used to be. Also I am getting close to 69 years old and she is over half of my body weight. I do try to walk every day, almost never set down even at the computer. I still do squats and lots of stretches every day but need to add other stuff back into the mix.

They are a space saver for sure, just have to be careful about letting them hit the floor. Sounds obvious but if your lifting heavy like your supposed your gonna toss a weight from time to time

I have never lifted weights in my life, always had jobs that were physcially demanding and always had rather good muscle mass on my upper body. I spent my 30 to 50's Bass fishing about 3 to 4 times per week power fishing, I think that was a great benefit to my muscles. Do you have office job?

I spent my 30 to 50's Bass fishing about 3 to 4 times per week power fishing, I think that was a great benefit to my muscles. Do you have office job? Now I do. Grew up in the construction trades, a lot of it framing and carpentry. Guys who thought they were in shape because they had a labor job usually weren't. they were conditioned to work but that's not the same as repetition lifts....it's completely different. They loved to talk about how they were in better shape than guys who went to the gym and how they have seen big weightlifters struggle with lifting a fridge, etc....made them feel good about not going to the gym. Bass fishing.....Look at your average bass fisherman. Denny Brauer looks like 225 lbs of chewed bubble gum. Kevin Van Dam looks like Woody from toy story. I can't tell if your being serious or not referring to bass fishing as excercise.

I’m not fat; just not tall enough for my weight. I call it under tall.
Polio survivor and one of the damn few.
Actually, not too bad but not very good. 6 ft tall and 212 pounds. Damn sure not all muscle. 82 yoa. Don’t see how. I eat lightly twice per day and go to local city park most days to walk a mile. Arthritis in my back and legs means I live with pain and have to wear a strap on back brace unless I’m sitting on my fat, lazy butt in my recliner with heating pad watching TV.
While sitting, I do leg lifts with 5 pound weights on each ankle. Then lift 10 pound dumbbells over my head 100 times Stretch a heavy duty strap 100 times. Then the squeeze grips in each hand for 100 reps. These are multiple times daily to whip boredom.
Have to be careful of how I exercise. Turn or move wrong and it can be painful. No way I can bend over and touch my toes without paying for it.
Not whining; damn few 1942 models around to feel anything or walk a mile. I’ve climbed quite a few mountains but now have to avoid hills. I spent my first 70 years in the 140 to 150 range but just can’t lose weight now.

I don’t lift anymore but I did beat 2 college football players and 3 other 22 year old college boys in arm wrestling last November at deer camp. I’m old but don’t feel like it yet.

I don’t lift anymore but I did beat 2 college football players and 3 other 22 year old college boys in arm wrestling last November at deer camp. I’m old but don’t feel like it yet. When I was a young buck, around 23 or 24, I had a pretty good winning streak arm wrestling with my peers. I didn’t get stupid with it but if they were within 15 or 20lbs of me I would arm wrestle them and would usually win. One day I challenged an old framer ( prolly mid to late 50’s at this point) who was built like a gnome. We had a good lock up but he beat me in fairly short order. Couldn’t believe it so after a 15 min rest we locked up again and he won again. Size and a strength don’t have as much direct correlation as one would think.

That’s when you know you have done something. I started lifting when I was 13 and after 11 dedicated years went by, I finally got big and strong enough that people would say “you remind me of this guy I know, he is a little bit bigger than you”. At some point in the military I hate to admit I pretty much gave it up because of all the time in the field, and the absurd road marches, 20+ milers, etc. I went on a sort of a maintenance plan then stopped altogether. Off and on I will get a spur of motivation but now as a truck driver it is hard to be consistent with anything. So most of my physical activity entails unloading about + or - 40,000 pounds of freight one box at a time, by hand, 3 days a week. For context, probably more than 50 percent of the dudes that come here will quit in less than 30 days. I have seen them quit on the first day, despite a 6 figure salary and home weekly driving job. I can tell you unequivocally, after 6 winters, this is not going to help you build muscles. But it will surely make you feel like you got your butt kicked.
