This is the worst trade since Biden traded Britney Griner for the merchant of death.

Mind blowing. Nico will go down in history for this one. Worst GM ever. Gave away last years scoring champ who lead his team to the NBA finals and is only 25 years old for virtually nothing. Dozens of other teams would have traded Dallas Allstars and numerous 1st round pics for a chance at Luka. realmad

I’m not an NBA fan but will give a different perspective. Luka has yet to understand what it means to be a professional, especially around keeping his body in shape. He constantly comes into a season pudgy and leads to injuries like he’s going through now. Add to the fact he’s due a Supermax deal this Summer and it would have handcuffed the Mavs for years.

The Mavs were concerned about his health and conditioning. He’s only played in 22 games this year.

Reminds me a lot of when the Cowboys traded Hershal Walker. That trade set the Cowboys on the path to dominate the early 90's. The Luka trade has that kind of feel to it, but I dont see the same results in the Mavs future.

I'm sure there is more to it. He is always gimped up and a whiny euro, hopefully there is something in the works

Should have kept Brunson

It's sad but that's the way it goes in pro sports. My only concern is that they didn't get enough for him to justify the trade mid-season. I have to think his physical condition played a role; he has missed a lot of games.

He's a lazy, fat, overeating, always gimped up prima donna, who isnt really focused on winning.

BYE BYE

bad thing is if we really got nothing for him. He could be great but he's just a whiney Euro, to quote BIL.

Pathetic…

I think this won't be a bad deal. Luka will never win a championship. He is overweight and its starting to have an affect on his health. He is maybe the worst defender in the NBA and the Celtics absolutely exposed him on that. Someone at his size and weight and apparent lack of trying to get in any shape will start to break his body down. Only played in 22 games so far this year. I had a kid I coached in college that was an amazing scorer, terrible defender, he transferred and we became a better team. With that said, it doesn't matter, the champion will come out of the east again.

I like his offense, he’s a scoring phenom. The dude can score period. But that’s all he brings, slow and poor defense. I don’t like this but I I have to see I can see why. Hopefully it plays out well

I’m not a NBA fan, but I haven’t heard anything good about him as far as maintaining his health and he generally doesn’t follow through with team doctor recommendations which leads to injuries. So it’s time to kick the liability down the road.

On another note, Stars are killing it, top team in the NHL since Christmas and we are even down 2 great players.

Some big rumors flying around right now. Lebron wants to own a team and apparently wants Vegas. Mavs trade Luca to give LA longterm success, Mavs start to go down and the owner of the Mavs made his money in Vegas, Mavs move to Vegas.

I’ve heard the same thing. New owners not concerned with wins and losses. Didn’t want Supermax contract expense. They plan to force a vote to legalize gambling in DFW to build a casino. If Texas doesn’t play ball they move team to Vegas. It’s a dollars and cents move since local sports network money has dried up.

On the flip side…. If Dallas losses the Mavericks the OKC Thunder would be idiots not to move two hours south to AAC.

Let’s see how well this post ages. Will make a note to revisit in a couple years.

There was an article about Jerry Jones looking to buy the Stars. Do you think JJ could make the Stars a championship team?

Maybe at the NHL level. Their mismanagement of community-level hockey is damn near criminal and has really turned me away from supporting the pro club.

Probably can't post pic's here but folks are covering Dirk's statue base with profane graffiti aimed at Nico Harrison. And one fan paid for a full blown funeral procession at AAC with a Mavs casket and pall bearers. roflmao

Mavs got fleeced. Typical DFW sports disaster. Reports leaking out now the experienced Laker GM pulled a fast one on the new guy.

Luka is the most skilled player in the NBA. Not the most gifted athletically which makes the things he does on the court even more remarkable. He doesn’t do the things he does without an incredible work ethic because he has to get it done with skill. What the Maverick’s got in return does not approach Luka’s trade value. The lakers will very likely win a championship with Luka and Lebron.

Startegic move by the Mavs higher ups. Making it easier for the move to Vegas.

I own 4 season tickets. My brothers own 8 season tickets. They are all going back. Nobody is answering the phones so we are sending emails. Nico has 4 armed guards in front of his house right now. A trade that eliminates all season ticket holders and requires armed guards, should not have been approved by the league. And I don't think destroying the fan base of the 5th largest media market will help the struggling ratings. This a nightmare I can't wake up from.

Man, he sure looked distressed during the Lakers presser. The look of a man that feels betrayed.

Luka is a 25 year old kid, unbelievable gifted player, he is not always hurt, he played 100 games last year, 40 minutes a game with 2 defenders guarding him most of the time. He almost averages a triple double. Stupid trade that will go down as the worst trade ever! Luka will win multiple MVP's with the lakers. As a Dallas fan, watch Luka stare down the best defender in the league, tell that defender he sucks and make a bucket, then look at Dak fold under pressure of a big game...The heart of a winner!

I came out early against Luka on the trade, but now more info has come out I agree with you both. Luka and the fans were betrayed by this stab in the back. Hopefully more will come out for the reason behind this.

I saw the LA presser with Luka, he did NOT look out of shape to me. I hope fans go to the Lakers game and give Luka an EXTENDED standing O. Then all walk out and never go back.

Move it all to Las Vegas

Dallas will start over.

no need to include Dak in this mess though. Jere's comeuppance is coming.

I don't care anything about the Luka trade. I am a huge college basketball fan and watch it religiously. I can't stand the NBA, but watch during the playoffs. Last year's NBA Finals was particularly hard for me to watch. I felt all Luka did was complain to refs and play terrible D. He is a good offensive player, but he is a liability on the defensive side and that is saying something, compared to how terrible the NBA defense is in general.

I still think the Mavs got the short end of the stick on the trade, but now they don't have to worry about giving him a Supermax contract.

Personally and maybe only for the short term, Kyrie, AD and crew should meld together better a team and may prove to be more proficient.

I’m no pro sports fan and really don’t care for basketball, but a lot are forgetting that basketball is a game. The NBA is a business and the players are a commodity.
