for a spincast and protein feeders. What are y'alls experience and thoughts when looking to purchase a new 350-600 lb spincast and maybe a small protein feeder to go along side of it?

This subject has been broached before, but let's get an update on what's out there and the pros and cons for them.

I have a Treeline 350 lb. spincast and have had quite a few problems with it over the 2 1/2 years since purchased, paid $399.00 for it, considered All Season feeder that was $700.
Took the less expensive route based on good reviews on the Treeline and the perceived significant savings. The old adage "You Get What You Pay For" certainly applies here.
More than likely going to sell it and get a better quality stand and fill feeder..

Here are a couple of considerations with the no basket around the spinner design that I am leaning towards.

Lamco 600 LB. Low & Throw Corn Feeder; MSRP PRICE $879.00, interesting their 350 lb. one sells for $799, so it seems for $80 more dollars makes sense to go 600 lb'er



Saw this listing for a Outcast feeder listed at Cabela's & Bass Pro Shop that looks exactly like my Treeline feeder except the base, maybe a Copyright infringement?

My newest is a Lamco Low and Throw, and I couldn’t be happier. I have several other types of feeders, but after getting the Lamco, I’d never buy another like them.

One thing I’ve never mentioned is the throw pattern of various feeders. All the others, since I had to squirrel proof them, drop the corn downward. That isn’t much of a problem, but it does lead to a hole being dug/eaten under the feeder. The Lamco doesn’t need squirrel protection, so it shoots corn at least 10 yards, so there’s a large area for the deer and hogs to wander around for corn. It keeps them in the area a bit longer and reduces the risk of putting a round through your feeder. Incidentally, I have learned how to patch feeders, but haven’t needed to for a few years. I'm using the Academy Game Winner stand and fill feeders 250+ lbs which are $199.00 for 3 years now with no issues. On units that I don't run all year I pull batteries and timer unit just to keep out of the weather.

I have 5 of the lamco 350# feeders. They are nice, easy to use feeders. I also have a Treeline that I've had a couple of issues with, but for the most part, it's worked okay.. but I won't buy another one.

If feeding protein is your goal, I go with all seasons stand in fill, I’d do everything I could to keep pellets off the ground, May be better off just going to a larger trough style feeder like lamco or ASF trio

I have a 600# Treeline, I got it for $449 on sale, and I think the TSC mgr knocked off another $50 because it was still boxed and it took them 15-20 minutes to find it and get it out of the storage area. It had initial hiccups with the bracket. Customer service was good and I made the necessary mods to fix it. It did need a new battery this past weekend, (fingers crossed) which appears to have it running again. It's not the greatest design but it ran flawlessly for 14 mos, twice a day. It holds every bit of 600, maybe 650.

I also have two three-year-old MB Ranch Kings. Other than batteries, these have been flawless for three years in the field. But they're $900-1000 new these days.

If I had to buy a new feeder tomorrow, I can't honestly tell you which one I'd buy. I'd likely roll the dice on another Treeline, given the price. I am hog-free at the moment, and coons and squirrels don't mess with it. My cows haven't challenged either type.

I have been using a Triple C -12V feeder for 21 years and never had to replace anything on it. The paint is still good with only one or two places starting to chip off. The bad part is they don`t make them any longer.

I noticed Ramball is building feeders again. They're expensive, but will never have to be replaced. I have one I bought a few years ago from him that I keep as my home feeder, never an issue.

It's hard to beat the 600lb feeder that Buc-cees sells for $479, especially if you have a feeder pen so that the cows and hogs can't get near it.

I have the Lamco 350#. It's been trouble free for 5+ years. I have the smaller one because it's here at the house. If I was going to get one for tnhe lease I would go with the 600#. If you can't get out there on a regular basis you're much less likely to run out before you can return to fill it.

We use six of the Hang 'em High feeders. Coon proof, squirrel proof, hog proof, everything proof! Only draw back is holding 300# of corn. A 600# feeder would sure cut down on number of trips in the off season. We use the winches set up for cordless drills to raise and lower. No hand cranking!

Stand and fill is a must.

Those feeders with the plates instead of the cages have been a PITA to work on should something go wrong. Hard to beat an Allseason stand and fill.

I bought a Ranch king Mighty buck about five years ago and love it. I run it year-round and have changed out the battery one time. Worth every penny in my opinion. I know as long as I keep corn in it, it will be feeding.

Built like a tank. The spinner plate is almost touching the bottom of the funnel so squirrels and coons can’t drop feed by spinning the plate. Solar panel charges it. I couldn’t be happier.

Lamco stand and fill for me. I have two of them and the only thing I have done to them in the last 8 years is to change the batteries. As mentioned before, it would be a pain to change the motor on it especially if it is full of corn.

Me too and it is awesome! Only problem I have with these is when I bought mine several years back it was $700ish, I want one for the house now and looked the other day they are now $1100 I am looking for a less expensive stand and fill alternative...

On another note, I also have a stand and fill feeder from Academy, much cheaper, that works OK but it is not steep enough inside. Last 75 or so pounds of corn won't fall down into the funnel.

Have a Ramball feeder going every day for over 8 years now with not a single issue in all that time. I also have a couple of Spin Tech feeders that are even older but I’ve had a few small issues over the years. My ASF feeder is 6-7 years old and have had timer issues but overall it’s been good. Newest is the Treeline 600lb from last year. I like the design but have had timer issues with it also.

You need to lube that spinner plate plastic grommet every now and then(dry lube was best luck but requires more applications ) . That plastic grommet will pop out. I’ve had a dozen of them, only one I use now is in road feeder.

I have two of his, lost a motor, but not hard to change out, but does take some thinking a head.

Over all it’s the only feeder I wouldn’t think twice with cows ….or bears

You'd need to add a bear-proof latch for that gravity lid.

Think his new one have latch. One of ours came with pad lock latch, but yes if in bear country ask him to add Chain link or similar pad lock latch
