I programmed my dish to record every night. I love watching them and wishing I had the $$$$$ to buy a `70 Chevelle or a `63 Vette with a split back window.

Oh Yeah, Barret Jackson- Scottsdale is the superbowl of car auctions for sure.
As I stated on the Mecum thread, the collector car market is bouncing back bigtime this year already. Seller's market.

I don’t have a ton of “bucket list” type items to do as I’ve just crested 60 yrs old. I would jump from a perfectly good airplane but have other interests as well. Flying to a Barrett or Mecum auction with a one way ticket is in the top 5. Fixed budget but pick hand full and get one to drive home. I’m all over the place but here’s a few.
‘69 Mach 1 (small block is ok) ‘68-70 Charger R/T 440 ‘69 Camaro (RS/SS) I owned a ‘68. Why did I sell that. Ugh. ‘68 Super Bee ‘69-70 Road Runner ‘66 or 67 GTO. Tri-power ‘69 Chevelle 396
I’d take my son and make a trip of it. Assuming I’d need ~$60-70k to get what I want.
Thoughts from the muscle car brain trust?

Too many restomods. Not a fan. Factory cars under $100k are boring. One thing that gets me watching Barret Jackson is all the lifted blazers, broncos, trucks, etc, that have those cheesy blocks on the rear axle, and rough country lift kits. People paying all that money for something so fastidiously restored, with the cheapest lift kit money can buy, and they don't know any better.

How much of an inspection can be done at one of these auctions? I don't know, but if I can see it on camera I'd dang sure be able to see it in person.

How much of an inspection can be done at one of these auctions? Not sure, but Barrett offers their own appraisal service to both buyers and sellers. I would assume if you bought an appraisal on a vehicle they would look it over pretty well, to avoid liability.

Those prices will buy you those cars, but you have to honest with yourself as to what condition you want and if the car is a tribute or honest vin car. I’m not a collector, so I couldn’t care less if the car was all numbers matching and r even has the correct engine.

At the end of the day it’s an old car. It will have “old car” issues and will take work keeping them running right. (Just like buying an old house from back then) And even with all of that, they don’t drive like new cars. Many don’t have power steering or breaks. We’ve come a long way with auto advances since the 50’s and 60’s.
But they are bad arse and have character that many of today’s vehicles just don’t. So I share in the allure .

Just amazes me how much some of the cars go for. Way out of my price range for sure. I like seeing the corvettes the most.
