When will it be safe to apply pre-emergent to Bermuda that was installed in May? It seems to be doing well and has been mowed many times, just looking a little brown in places due to the heat.

I used Stonewall as recommended here and there's a picture of the label on this page above. Says no worries applying to new yet established plants. Says it's safe as soon as the soil has settle around transplants. Not sure on other products.
Pass the gravy.

Grubex. $15 right now on Amazon. You won't need it until next year, but grab it at this price. GrubEx

Too late. The GrubEx $15 deal on Amazon is gone.
After 3" of rain I had to raise my mower to the top and cut the Bermuda early so I can lower the mower to regular height and cut it again Sunday.
Pass the gravy.

So is there any reason I should not put down Image and Celsius WG right now? I have a little crabgrass and some nut sedge just starting to come back. I put Stonewall down on 8-17. Last put Image without Celsius back in June or July. Haven't used Celsius since late Spring.
Pass the gravy.

You can if you want. Sledgehammer is another product you can use for a little spot spraying. If you go with Image keep in mind it needs to be watered in within a few days of application. If you’re on irrigation no biggie. Decent rain chance tomorrow night with the front coming depending on location. You can roll, out some Celsius too. Personally I wouldn’t worry too much about crab this late in the year. It’s an annual and the mother plant will die with the first frost/freeze amd only return via the seeds it’s dropped. Your spring app of Stonewall will be key for next years prevention. I have a little bit of sedge popping and a little of spurge. I’m just going to spot spray them Spectricide yellow label next week when it’s in the 80”s. I believe the orange top is labeled for crab. It’s a good premixed product to have on the shelf and handy for just going out to hit a few here and there when temps are good like next week.

Walmart had Image in a nozzle bottle for a hose. It was $10 on clearance instead of $22.99. Got two. Can't figure it out but tried it anyway. I only did Image manual liquid as a spot in the spring and early summer. Didn't seem like the product was mixing as the bottle never lowered in level. Poured the contents into my manual sprayer and used it on the rent house side of the property line where the crabgrass, dandelions, sticker burrs, and other bad stuff comes from. Watered in really well what I "sprayed" from the bottle on my grass then it rained in the middle of the night. We shall see. Wish I knew the concentration in the other one so I could just dump it in my sprayer, add the right amount of water, and spot use it this spring.
Pass the gravy.

Walmart is starting to have some good clearance deal. I use this Preen in flowerbeds and it needs to be watered in immediately

My store has GrubEX for $34. That's more than the regular price on the bag shown. It's only $31 on Amazon. I did get the a fore mentioned Image sprayers for $10 instead of $24 but I don't think they work properly or I'm too dumb.
Pass the gravy.

Thoughts on rattan furniture? We want to buy a set, like this one. Is it easy to manage?

Derek, how long do you think we have left mowing? I'm getting tired of it! I know you didn't ask me but I started my turf height reduction for winter the weekend before Halloween and therefore I have lowered my mower twice since then and mowed five times, twice with a bagger. It's almost down to winter level and therefore I have forced the Burmudagrass into dormancy. The St. Augustine doesn't mind being cut short so it's still green although not growing much in height between cuttings. After one more lowering and a little time for it to get cooler, I'll have it licked ... along with the last of the leaves that fall.
Pass the gravy.

Didn'T ask me either but my thoughts we will be mowing occasionally like other years until we get a killing frost. When that happens it will be dormant until it warms up enough. Who knows when that will happen.

I'm just occasionally mowing as well. Waiting on the first good frost or two to put it to bed.

Turf height reduction through stage three and I have hauled two truck beds of clippings and live oak leaves from only the front yard.
St. Augustine is still not asleep. It's not growing much but it's still green.
Pass the gravy.

Time to be thinking about getting your Pre Emergent. DFW area my date is February 15th. I like the active ingredient Prodiamine. Which the last couple of years was Lesco Stonewall at Lowes. It has gotten really hard to find. I'll link it so you can see if your store has any. If not the best deal I have seen so far is Lebanon Prodiamine. Neither HD or Lowes seems to have it in store. I will link the HD. HD has been doing free ship to home. If Lowes is your only option they are the exact same price but they are only shipping to store for free. If I happen to find a better deal on a product I will update. This is for grassy weed prevention and not broadleaf weeds. I don't have a Site One to shop at so not sure what they have. See any product you're interested in post a link and I will check it out. You would want to apply the Lebanon at 3lbs per 1000sq feet then water it in well. If you don't have irrigation you would want to time it before rain. Not flooding rains when they forecast 2-3". 1/2-1" rains would be best. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Lesco-LESCO-Stonewall-Crabgrass-Preventer-0-0-7/5001213041https://www.homedepot.com/p/40-lbs-...iSShEAQYAyABEgKfkPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hey Derek, my sister moved into a small condo and her small lawn (4000 sq. ft.) is covered with grass burrs. I told her last fall that I would put a preemergent down this year for her to help prevent them. I have plenty of Prodiamine 65 Wdg already bought for my lawn and I`m wondering how good it would do and when to spray for them. TIA

You start googling around and you'll see pendimethalin is a better pre for it and labeled for it. Pend is Scotts Halts and others. Not a garbage product but old technology and really not recommended on grass anymore. Its the same MOA as Prodi. To keep this simple and I know you're a sprayer but I don't remember what all you have. This is what I would do. 65wdg now-Feb at 0.41oz by weight per 1000 Again Mid August. July when it's hotter than hell. Per 1000 Celsius 3.2 grams, 4oz of Image, 0.3 grams MSM. I only use Image in summer and it's a banger. Using it going into winter or coming out can be a big problem. That's 3 apps this year and I think that will clean her yard up pretty good. 86 the MSM if her lawn has oak trees.

I still have Stonewall left over from the August application. I will put it down 2-15.
My current issue is one spot that's in semi-shade on otherwise barren earth under my live oak (where I planted the Asian Jasmine that did not take hold) that is infested with what looks like some kind of crabgrass. Whatever it is it took hold in the fall and never gave up. Winter hasn't touched it. I don't think Stonewall will help with that as it's emerged well and looks very healthy.
Pass the gravy.
