Who has the best wiper blades? I need to replace them on the Tundra and the wife’s SUV. They aren’t cheap these days, so I might as well pay for good ones.

Silicone. I like PIAA or Rain-X. Best I've used.

This is what I got several months ago. They have performed well. And yes, they have gone up a bit.

Bosch is what I use and I’ve never been disappointed.

I’ve been using the Bosh Icon’s and the Bosh Evolutions for the past 4 or 5 years and have been happy with them.

I'm happy with Bosch Icon. I ued to use Rainx Latitude, but the line they leave on the windshield at the stop points from the repellent got too annoying. It was like something changed in how they are made or the chemistry of the water repellent in them.

Did this today on the wife Expedition. Michelin silicone. About $23-24 each. They perform only slightly better but once a year I don’t mind the splurge. It’s what I put on mine, I’m not going to do less for her.

You aren’t kidding about them not being cheap! Other day I needed some and asked the autozone guy who had the best. He grabbed the rain-x ones and we went to the register. Rang up over $80.Sure hope they last like the guy said.

Thought about putting them back, but I told him I wanted good ones, so I went ahead and bought them. They do work great… sure hope that last.

Go to rock auto. Even with shipping it's half price and they compare all of them.

Just replaced the rear wiper on 17 Expedition. Only place I could find one was at the dealer. Ouch!

I bought my F250 in June, it’s on its 3rd set of blades. I don’t know what’s causing it, but they are getting destroyed way faster than normal. For set was $80 and I got maybe 3 months, most of which there was no rain, but I clean my windshield every day.

These days, I have found the cheap $10 each blades work just as well and last just as long as the high dollar blades. And even if they only last half as long as a $40 blade, it is still cheaper in the long run. The Texas sun is what kills them the fastest, if your vehicle sits outside all of the time like mine do.

I get my front wipers for F350 and Expedition at WallyWorld. They last about 6 months.

Just got a pair of Michelin silicone's two week ago at Auto Zone and had them installed there. While they were putting them on the salesperson said one of the main causes of wipers not lasting was cleaning the windshield when there were a lot of dead bugs on it. Seems the dried little devils exoskeleton will eat the wipers up faster than normal. So now when I need to clean the window I keep a bottle of window cleaner and a roll of paper towels in the truck. If they last a year I will be happy.

I’m here at an auto shop in Waco, having the SUV’s clunk sound investigated. I figured why not have new wipers put on it now. I was quoted $71 per wiper blades. Not a chance.

Bosch, by far!! I tried multiple brands, and the Bosch models always performed the best and lasted the longest. Rain-X wipers are a joke, I couldn't stand them.

After having the SUV ‘clunk’ problem looked at, next up was an oil change. They put Bosch (lower grade for sure) wiper blades on it for $39. We’ll see how they work in the upcoming rainy days.

Just saw an ad for Bosch wiper blades for $8 off at O'Reilly's.

Whatever they sprayed on the roads the past few weeks was like dried syrup on my windshield. Tore up my rain x blades.

Never again. These are the worst wiper blades ever. In moderate and heavy rain they do decent, but light rain, or on a cooler day they leave streaks of water bad.

Buy once, cry once! You got what you paid for. Cheap and quality do not go in the same sentence.

I’ll drive the car next time it rains, and we’ll see if the new wiper blades are Ok.

And…regarding the ‘clunk’ on the underside of the Lexus SUV, I think it’s the shocks/struts. They’re at 90k miles.

Probably not using pfc/pfas in chemical coating anymore. The banning in Cali, DC and New Yorks messed up the water repellent world

These are terrible and left a really bad film over my windshield and anytime it would rain I couldn't see out the window because of whatever chemical these put on my windshield. Never again.

Replaced with ICON 22A/22B and they were better as in not putting chemicals on my windshield, but the passenger side does a "hop" now every time regardless if the windshield is wet/dry/damp doesn't matter.

Looking for a good set to replace them with right now.

That brine crap is harder on vehicles then dry salt.

When I replace wiper blades I place something on the windshield. I my case it is an old moving mat. Have a wiper arm slip out your hand and you will find out why.

Nobody uses RainX to pre-treat your windshields any more? I can drive in most rain without even using the wipers. Also seems to make my wipers last much longer, I usually get at least a year.

I agree that bugs will tear up your blades. I will sometimes stop twice between Lubbock-Goldthwaite during bug season to clean the windshield at a gas station. I can't stand a dirty windshield.

Yup, I've noticed a significant decline in silicone wiper quality over the last few years.


I use the Rain-X washer fluid and love it. Although like the wipers, I think it's less effective now than it used to be.

I quit using RainX. I now use ceramic coating. It has other uses and works as good or better then RainX. What I don't get, and see it a lot, are people running wipers, sometimes on high, in a drizzle or mist when I might be using momentary.

Same ones who drive around with their bright lights on all the time, and probably wear face masks in the vehicle too.

I recently had a clunk fixed. It was the CV axles. $700. The boots had degraded and lubrication leaked out. 140,00 miles of wear.

The sway bar connectors were replaced on my first trip to the auto shop. That did reduce, but not eliminate the clunking. Second trip was for further examination for what might be the problem, and they put their senior guys on it, and they couldn’t find anything . They even went into the trunk area and found nothing there either. So, my thinking is that it’s something that can’t be seen, such as the shocks and struts. I was gonna replace them at 100,000 miles, and I’m at 90k, so I’ll have them replaced before too long. The internet suggests that worn shocks will cause a clunking sound.

Just bought some PIAA Silicone wipers. Hope they're better than the RainX I've used.

Did PIAA go out of business? I found these on Amazon, but the PIAA website doesn't work and they're out of stock most places.

True, But here's the thing, same exact blades at oreillys were $32.

I went on a Pheasant hunting trip to Kansas with Texaslefty several years ago and he had me stop at a Wal-Mart as he couldn't stand how nasty my windshield was. He got 0000 steel wool, glass cleaner and paper towels. The 0000 steel wool with the glass cleaner removed all the stuck on bugs and crap then he cleaned it again with just glass cleaner and paper towels. Cleanest my windshield has ever been.

Yep, I bought refills from dealership for my Tacoma and they worked great. When I went to buy them for Tundra they said I had to buy 10. I remember the old days when you just replaced the rubber.

TL does love him a clean windshield! True fact: TL will pick certain stopping places JUST because they have great amenities (good cleaner and squeegees) for window cleaning.

That’s actually pretty handy info. the coast kills me, gallon of spray and new blades it seems like every trip.
