The new law really messed up my Pease River hunt I used to go on. I've always got a great buck on my lease but still enjoyed the adventure of hunting this one river area. I killed great bucks, hogs, coyotes.........just walk into pre scouted areas, post up in the weeds and get after it. I miss it.

The bucks I saw killed off of the matador and the chaparral were below par imo. Kind of glad I didn’t get drawn for those this year.

It was terrible hunting for 2.5 days but then it all came together in a three hour span. Difficult country to traverse

wow, i'd say it did come together. i've never put in for that drawing. wasn't sure what the deer hunting would be like and wasn't interested in teh aoudads. and they say its tough country. you always wonder when they say "tough" like just how tough. yall able to walk and get thru the place with a regular pickup? how did it all go?

just about every plant has thorns, or sharp leaves. Rough, rocky canyons with some around 800 ft steep ascents. The amount of rocks to walk over means in some spots you never step on a flat surface. I wouldn't think you could drive off the roads without a flat tire. Didnt try. We did it, so its definitely not impossible. But its not an easy stroll.

We were an anomaly. The hunt superintendent said they were the best deer that year. I think they were surprised we did so well with the deer. If aoudad sheep aren't your thing, I'd probably not apply for that hunt. It's what's there in large amounts.
