That includes Alaska and Hawaii but Not our U.S Territories (American Samoa, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands)
So where would you like or hate to live in during the winter, spring, summer or fall and why?

Alaska. Don’t know where I’d go exactly but it’s the most scenic, beautiful, wild place I’ve ever been. So much public land for outdoor activities.
Utah or Western Colorado. Similar to the Alaska reasoning. Beautiful areas with a lot of opportunities for outdoor recreation. That’s where I typically go to camp and ride trails as it is. Moab, Grand Junction, Delta.

Western Colorado. Grand Junction area, specifically. They get weather but nothing like the east face of the Rockies. With the proper signage you can drive your UTV through town and right up into the mountains. Park your truck anywhere along the river anywhere between town and the gun range to eat cold fried chicken with honey on your tailgate and watch for bald eagles.
Edited to add: Based solely on climate, summers in southern California are nice. Warm days, cool nights, and very few bugs.

If I had my way, I'd buy 100 acres in nowhere Montana, put a log house right smack in the middle of it, and shoot elk off my back porch.
But I have a city wife, so I can just flush that dream right down the crapper.

I told my wife we should live near Alpine, TX most of the year.
In summer, be in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming.
I would NOT want to live where they have brutal winners, with tons of snow. Michigan, Minnesota, Dakotas, ect. I HATE being cold!

The older I get the more I am like Goldilocks. I like it “not too hot and not too cold.”
I usually like October - May in southwest Louisiana. But the older I get I hate the hot humid months.
I think I need a summer home somewhere where it is cooler and less oppressive. The Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina are beautiful in the summer and fall. Somewhere in Montana, Colorado, or maybe even Idaho or Wyoming would also be great.
I also have a “city wife” so I can never be too far from civilization. When we flooded after Hurricane Delta I asked my wife if she wanted to move to Montana since I had received an email about some forestry jobs available there. She seriously considered it as we watched the water recede out of our house. Once that stopped she dismissed that thought in favor of being 10 minutes from Walmart and the grocery store.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere near the Gulf Of America. Just a matter of time and a storm will mess it up.

I’ll pass on that I saw that wind chill in North Dakota this morning. I’m not built for that kind of cold. A chubby girl that could keep you warm that could cook would be a must have to take the sting out of those winters. Ideal for me would look something like: Summers and fall in North Dakota, Montana, or Idaho. Winter and spring in rural Texas.

I’ll pass on that Temps here. Not sure with windchill. My air-condition in me Blazer tis working real good. Always prefured the cooler Temps over the heat. High school wore windbreaker -,20° & colder, conditioned myself ta cool Temps. Been out moving cattle on horseback, whin wind, & Temps dropped inta the negatives. Couldn't feel reins/nor feet in stirrups. Lots of Northern people head south for warmer Temps in winter. Northern MN tis more wooded area, enjoy icefishing, & hunting in the cooler Temps.

One of my relatives summered in Alaska and wintered in Texas.
Visited them once up there and thought that was a cool migration.

The coldest I've ever been in my life was in the southern California desert in January 1996. But that's not why I would NEVER live in that "state." Id hate to live in the Texas panhandle personally...still hot in the summer, windy as Hades in the spring and cold in the winter...no thanks Several friends of mine have said the coldest place they've ever been is Amarillo, Texas in January. There's nothing between you and Canada but wheat and barb wire. Ah, it's not so bad. Pretty balmy, actually...

The coldest I've ever been was at home, Wolfe City, TX during Snowmageddon. -7° F set the record.
I had to treat the same as fighting fire, no exposed skin.

My sister and BIL live in Asheville NC, and have (had) a nice waterfront condo in Crystal River Florida. Their lives kind suck right now, with two destroyed places!!!

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

No way Cali citis, East coast cities, H-town, Chi-town... I don't plan to leave the great country of TX but do want to get out of the metromess. Wife says needs still be within 90 min-2 hrs though of Dallas or Ft Worth. If were just me I'd be in Montana or Idaho until big snows and then to milder south until Spring. Snowmagaden was dam cold in DFW!
Been thinking of becoming an ex-pat every 178 days (is 180 days stilll the rule?)

Id hate to live in the Texas panhandle personally...still hot in the summer, windy as Hades in the spring and cold in the winter...no thanks No humidity makes summer really pleasant compared to most of the state. As someone who works across the state during the summer, west Texas and the panhandle is very nice. Yes it’s cold and windy, but the windy season usually isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be. And if you like the mountains it’s an easy weekend trip to get to them. Less people and traffic. Waayyy less Cali transplants and liberals than certain parts of the state.

I lived in Florida for 10 years from age 24 to 34. I probably would enjoy being there seasonally, but I hated living there full time.
