You may not recall but by the time of National Championship, there was already a lot of buzz about Bush's Heisman likely being forfeited and ongoing investigations into Bush receiving illegal booster payments etc. affecting his future eligibility. Thus, he declared out for NFL shortly after. I recall all that buzz very well. Think Carroll didn't want to overly press the Bush angle into the dirt maybe for how it'd make him look.

Bush was having a great game, if they had him in there on that second to last drive with Lyndale White I think they would have gotten another first down, run out the clock and won the game.
I am Glad they did not have him in there and ecstatic that Texas won!!

Thank you Pete Carroll for being a a Dumb Azz!! Which reminds me of another Pete Carroll's terrible decision in super bowl XLIX.
Seattle down 28-24 against the Patriots, Seattle has a second down and 1 on the 1 yard line of New England's with 20 seconds left in the game he chose not to let the Beast Marshawn Lynch pound the ball in and calls a pass play that is picked off ensuring the Patriots win.

Back on Reggie Bush
Bush finished the game with 95 yards on just six catches ave 15.93 per catch, gained 82 yards on 13 carries avg 6.3 yards per carry and also averaged 20.2 yards on five punt return
How on Gods Green earth do you not have such a talented, productive weapon not in game ????????

With 3:08 left in the game and USC leading 38-33, they have a 1st down on their own 46 yard line. Reggie Bush not in or for the rest of the game?
1st down they run Lyndale White 3 yards
2nd down 2:25 left they throw a screen to incomplete stops the clock
3rd & 7 run Lyndale White gets 5 yards
Now 4th & 2 yards to go with 2:13 left on the clock, run Lyndale he is stopped short.

I don’t think Reggie was the answer, atleast not from running perspective against that D. Pretty much what Texas schemed against all week. Hot routes, speciality and screens is where Reggie was most dangerous. Also remember who their QB was, best bet was pass to open Reggie up. Reggie was probably the best speciality player in the country due to his open field, , but not best hard nosed running back, you couldn’t ground and pound with him.

Agree with you for the most part of your description of Reggie's abilities, where I disagree with you is that he still could have given USC the best chance to win that game.

What I thought would be the most problematic for Texas defense would be a combo of Lyndale White lined up at Fullback, Reggie at Halfback and they would have had better options with play calling.
On Fourth and two with the game on the line, they ran Lyndale White as the power running back and came up short, with Reggie in there who knows what the play call would have been and the end result.
Reggie was the X factor, they could have lined him up anywhere, halfback, tight end, wide receiver which would given USC more options and Texas D more to adjust to.

Glad Texas won, Vince Young was a beast; Hook'em Horns next year!

Funny none of us have anything negative to say about DQkid(I agree with him more often then not), Stub, Roll-Tide etc, intelligent conversations and great discord. Issues are always with just you and your mouth when you don’t like what someone has to say.

Stud brought back a very intelligent reply to our conversation about 2006 Rose bowl, I disagree with it, but still well thought out and well articulated opinion.

You are the exact opposite, why you constantly get called out for it. you have no clue what coaches saw from the box to make a play call but are first to act like you do.. You stay stupid [censored] with replies like CTE, and trolling almost everyone that disagrees with.

No different than the great freeze thread, astos, etc where your discord is petty BS……And of course you play the victim and can’t own it.

You are rambling. I don't even know what you are trying to say.

Let's go back to what was said....

I said Manning is almost the size of VY. That's it. You then go on a rant.....

I said that someone could be correct, and your buddy goes on his rant over a hypothetical....

That was 5, or 6 pages ago. Go back and read. The crazy thing is I didn't disagree with anyone.

You know I was just kidding around about the big head deal. I do enjoy reading what you have to say around here though, no joke.

They are saying 11 drafted this year. There should be quality replacements, but they will be inexperienced.

Portal will hurt depth. Most these guys are good enough to start right away at some places. Bama didn’t lose any of importance to portal, a few solid depth guys.

A few guys I really understand. Good players, work hard but can’t touch field. Baylor got Prentiss, Kansas got a couple. Kentucky got a receiver. Some of this is due to Bama picking up a Miami receiver in portal. Kinda forced their hand.

Yeah, the good thing is that all the starters moving on will make room for the 2s and 3s.

Some of these college players will have to take a cut in pay to go pro. Read an article that said Ewers would have to take a cut in pay to turn pro. Article said it would be feasible for him to return to college for another year rather than turning pro. He makes more money and hopefully improves his draft position by improving his skills. The article mentioned USC and get this one---Ohio State. I look for Sark to encourage him to turn pro, since he will play second fiddle to Manning next year, that is IF Sark returns to UT. He may be a pro coach next year himself.
