You might be surprised. I have seen some fat green berets. I think it comes down to mental and physical toughness, moreso than physical fitness.

According to the Army public affairs not only did he have what you listed, he was decorated. Also had a CIB and was SF tabbed. Not a desk jockey.

I am not trying to discount anything anyone is saying about his decorations, but in the timeframe of his deployments, the Army was giving out medals for just being places. I know docs that got bronze stars and such for just being in theater and never doing a dang thing. The valor means he was in action (but this could just mean his base was attacked ior something?) but at the time the army was giving almost anything away and being a comms enlisted guy in the SF command center, he probably got the valor portion added to make it easier to promote. The usarmy in the early to mid 2000’s was a joke when it came to medals.

And when i was in country, i saw an incredible amount of fat, yes fat, army dudes and gals. All the spec ops guys that came and hung at the hospitals with us were in shape and you could tell who they were.

I stand by my statements this guy was likely a desk jockey. Anyone who spends 19 years active duty is coming away with a decorated chest, the joe public reporter doesnt know what that means if it is 6 medals or 22 on there. Heck, joe public sees a basic trainee graduate with 3 medals and would say that he is a decorated graduate.

If they wore those individual toe shoes, they were SF.

My brother spent 27 years (retired SGM) in 5th SF GRP (Ft. Campbell, KY). He has PTSD pretty bad but still has his humor and wits about him.

Not too sure about “always” Charles Whitman at the UT tower didn’t. James Holmes in the Aurora Co movie theater didn’t. Stephen Paddock at the Vegas concert didn’t. Those are just a few off the top of my head. When they don’t put one out the conspiracy theorists make that a conspiracy too.

Those are all much older events.

In the past year or two, was there any shooter from these events that *didn't* have one? At this point it's almost a requirement to write a multi-page report whinging about your life before you try and kill someone.

They are addicted to cell phone/internet/social media and recreational outrage. They are not living in reality, they live on the internet. They view themselves as heroes.

They don’t wake up one day and say “i feel like doing something terrible, murdering innocents, and killing myself” and start planning. They view themselves as martyrs. The result of weeks, months, or years spending most of their free time viewing the internet and social media, guided by an algorithm that keeps them in the proverbial “echo chamber”.

It’s like they MK-Ultra’d themselves.
