Unless I missed it, you never mentioned what you were going to hunt with them. A 300 BO on AR platform offers more versatility and shooting solutions. A lever action 30-30 is an outstanding platform. A Marlin 336 is simply outstanding and is tapped for scope mounts. Rossi makes a great lever action. Some are side ejects which makes putting a scope on easier, others are top eject.

Most of our hog hunting is a night, so a lever action without a scope isn't of much use. Adding a scope and you're in business. We've had many hunters with lever actions hunting deer and they do quite well.

A lot of this is going to come down to what you're hunting. Good luck!

Distance is not the issue, but the winds can make it interesting!

Thank you all for your input and advice. I can always count on good advice, and an off comment or two🤦🏻‍♂️, from this forum. With all the option discussed I feel like I am leaning towards the 300 BO only because my main focus is pig control. This will be my first venture into the AR platform so there may be more questions to come. Thanks again!

This is an armadillo shot by 125gr SST @ 100 yds. AR carbine is 18" 1:10 twist, 2100 fps. IR scope. NO head left on it! There is a reason I don't do subsonic stuff - and no reason for faster twist. Get a good barrel and trigger.

Have a Marlin 336 in .30-30 and a couple of 300BLK guns, prefer the 300. It's easier to find subsonic ammo on shelves and putting optics on a 336 seems blasphemous to me, so it's just one of those modern conveniences. The 336 is a great rifle, but it's heavy for what it is and it's more of a novelty at this point with the big lever loop.

Me personally, I would just SBR anything you get in 300BLK and enjoy it the way it was designed. I have a 16" and you really can't tell the difference between that and the 11.5 as far as what it does on coyotes/pigs, but the 11.5 is lighter and much more balanced in the hand if that is a concern. If you are open to something slightly different and had to have a levergun, I have a Rossi R92 in .357 that I really like after I did quite a bit of loving to it and it works fine on deer out to about 75ish yards in my experience. Super light, points like a broomstick, .357 ammo everywhere too.

Either will work for pigs I personally run 300BLK SBR 8” with suppressor. It’s no 308 but it’ll lay em down.

My buddy hunted with mine and liked it so much he had me build him one just like it.

We hoped out of the truck one evening and there was a sounder of piglets not 30 yards from us and we opened up on them and got 4 out of the 8-10 that were there. We weren’t ready didn’t even know they were there.

Been hunting with my Marlin 36A 30-30 since the 90’s. Deer, pigs, yotes….Just can’t give it up. It’s heavy but it just feels right.

The Rossi 92 is an awesome gun for open sites. .357 with no recoil, or 44 Mag with plenty. The 45 Colt is the one I like the most. I don’t know of anything lighter and quicker handling.

Bout the biggest thing I’d trust a 300BO for roflmao
