Had a buddy that had pond stocked and I was highly entertained when he threw fish food out! Watching them feeding was awesome.

That looks like a lot of fun. I am a big fan of green sunfish, though. I grew up catching the hell out of ‘em. I could spend the rest of my life with a lightweight fly rod chasing those things and not get bored.

What do you think they weigh? Are the catfish reproducing?

I stocked a pond in March and some of them have already hit 2 plus pounds.

They typically don't reproduce in ponds very will because they need a rocky or gravel bottom to spawn.

If they do reproduce, very few get big enough to spawn. They swim slowly and go everywhere in a school.Easy to pick off by larger fish.

I was feeding them a lot but the minnows and sunfish spawned and they had a good amount of food after that.

Love them that way with some lemon and/or homemade tartar sauce. They also cook well grilled or blackened.

I like making Creole gumbo with them cubed up in it.

Beautiful fish and water. I really miss my old place that had 2 spring fed ponds on it after seeing those fish.

How big is your tank and how many did you put in? I get my fish from Herrmans fish farm out of Robstown. That old gal that takes your money, told me that they have 55 gallon barrels that they cut one end out of and the channels spawn inside them. They got some Hybrid Blue cats that will eat every thing in the tank and are aggressive as heck, she said the are good for tanks that have an over population of perch or crappie.

The fish are from Arkansas. There’s a giant hatchery there. They travel around to 3-4 states and sell at feed stores. I put 200 in.
