Someone showed me a video of the train hitting the truck’s load, yesterday. I didn’t think too much of it. Apparently, it derailed the train, killing two engineers and damaging buildings. Pretty bad deal. I’ve been through that intersection many times. The roads in that area are some of the worst.

There was also a train that hit a vehicle in Midland, but it wasn’t nearly this bad. I can’t find anything on that.

It really was. You see stuff like that happen from time to time, and it doesn’t seem to affect the train any. It sure did, this time.

Well that just looks #$%^y. RIP to the Engineers.

Horrible deal. I went through that intersection about 15 minutes before it happened. As of this evening there is still about a 4 block radius around the crash closed off.

It amazes me when this happens! Thought there was number posted on cross bar or near by to call and they have chance at shutting rail down. Not like there is place a train can hide on straight stretch of track and not be seen. Few folks will face charges or very least be kicking rocks....permitters, driver, escort company!? They pulling a drop deck and should have known better to try to clear any rise with that weight. Seen that kind of trailer almost drag belly driving out of yard where I work and we have decent yard level. Still sad outcome for rail workers and families.

Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock!

Plenty of truckers on the road today that have no business driving a go-kart....let alone an 80k lb. rig.

It didn't look like the truck moved. Was it disconnected from the trailer?

Broke the king pin?

RIP to the train engineers. They were just doing their job.

That stretch of track that parallels US 90, in Sanderson. I've counted 110 cars. Two engines pulling and one pushing. I always wonder what the entire train weighs. Millions of pounds.

The engine jumped up off the tracks when it made contact. Slow the video to see.

Lots of lawsuits. I wonder if anyone called the Railroad . Emergency number is on sign at crossing. Sad. God Bless the Engineers.

The road that the crossing is on finally opened up this morning. It was still closed yesterday evening when we came in. Pictures just don't do it justice. Seeing the sheer quantity of twisted metal in person was an eye opener. There were literally hundreds of people with all kinds of equipment working nonstop to get the road open again.

Ultimately it is the truck drivers fault but that was a huge load. When you have something that big the state tells you which route to take. It is not like you have any choices. It is a huge fine if you deviate from the specified route. Probably a hundred lowboy/RGN trailers go over those tracks every day without issue. They are not near as long as this rig was though.

I don't know if this is fact, but was told to me by a friend that works for the railroad. The truck was stuck there for 45 minutes. The pilot company, truck driver or police didn't call the RR. He said that's a blind corner and they didn't have time to slow down much. He said they hit at 66mph which seems awful fast going through town.

I have sat at that crossing many times. The train comes through at speeds that seem too fast to me unless it stops and the RR employees walk to the convivence store. Lots of people waiting for them to come back. Prayers for all involved.
