Merry Christmas to all my friends here. Cut our tree this weekend. Interesting back story on the tree we cut. When we got married 34 odd years ago, we gave out potted 18 inch blue spruce saplings as our wedding favors. After the wedding we had about 50 left so we planted on our property and scattered over our bush. The tree we cut for this years xmas tree was one of our wedding trees. Most of our ornaments are handmade by either us, my kids, my grandkids or friends. My wife, my oldest granddaughter and my 14 year old Walker Coon Hound: ![[Linked Image]](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54207686215_c7d66fa256_b.jpg) Tree was actually about 35 feet tall after 34 years but had a very nice crown so we cut it down and used the top 10 feet. If you do not mind, what is the name of your pooch? My Walker's full name is Gilgamesh but he has always been called Gilgi for short. He is named after an ancient Sumerian king of Uruk as recorded in the "Epic of Gilgamesh" first recorded about 4100 years ago. The Epic is said to be the oldest written literature in the world known to man. There are older stories but this is the oldest literature if looking at the age of the tablets the literature is recorded on. For comparison the Dead Sea Scrolls were recorded about 2400 years ago.

Give old Gilgi an extra back scratch from us folks in Texas. Lost count of the number of coyotes he has put the run on over his life. Recovered his fair share of lost deer as well. Had him since he was 8 weeks old. Always been super fit and ready to go and never been sick a day in is life. Still remarkably spry for 14 and has no problem with stairs or jumping onto the seat of the truck. He just spends less time outside now and more time sleeping in front of the fire now than he used to. Still loves his bacon and egg breakfast that i make for him every Sunday morning. Remember some crazy feats of endurance in his younger days. He would keep up to me for miles at 30 mph on the ATV and then i would jump in the kayak after a run like that and he would swim behind me for miles. Kinda like people - they just don't seem to make em like that anymore. Gonna sorely miss that guy when he passes in the next year or two. Funny current thing all the Amazon delivery guys are afraid of the half deaf, half blind hound that does not have a mean bone in his body where humans are concerned.
