I’ve not seen one. I sold a ranch in Frio county where the landowner called it up several times when varmint hunting (he did not shoot it thankfully). Few miles as the crow flies another landowner had seen one as well.

I’ve not had the fortune to see any rare or big cats. Few bobcats is about it. I would love to see a mountain lion but it’s not been in the cards as of yet.

Yes sir, late 70s/early 80s on our lease near Roma, TX in Starr County. A few mountain lions as well there. Too bad not as many nice deer though...

I am pretty sure I saw a Jaguarundi a few years back on the way to fish Choke Canyon. Before daylight on FM 99 between I37 and Whitsett. Ran across the road in front of the truck. Bigger than a house cat and smaller than a bobcat. Dark in color with a ridiculously long tail. Wish I had a dash cam at the time.

Just north and west of there, I had the same observation on a ranch road. Me and Donger didn't know what we had seen. Definitely a cat we had never seen prior.

The long tail is a dead giveaway.

They are long and slinky and low to the ground. Pretty cool animals

Why do facts bother some of y'all so much?
There have only been 5 jaguarundi ever documented in Texas. All 5 were in the 2 counties in the southern tip. The last one was in 1986. If anyone is actually interested, Jonah Evans is TP&W state mammoligist and he has a video about jaguarundi.

With respect to actual numbers of anything, yes.

Necessary nonetheless....as TP&W will 'try' to verify sightings and come up with some kind of number to report.

They (TP&W) know that some of the other reported sightings are probably true. But they also know when it comes to CAT sightings, people come out of the woodwork with claims to having seen one (Mountain Lion, Black Panther, Jaguarundi).

Hell...I could go tomorrow to the barbershop, bring up the subject and have no less than 10 people claim to have seen a Black Panther or know someone who has. So.....TP&W rightfully approach reports with some amount of skepticism.

I saw a typical Mt Lion on what is now my place in Mississippi years ago actually 5 of us gathered at the gate talking all saw it. A week or so later about a mile down the road two neighbors got into an argument about the color of the cat that crossed the road between them. Sun was setting the one headed East said typical mt lion color while the one headed west said no it was black and they argued I do not know how long when the cat sighting would be brought up.

Never really hunted where I would expect to see a Jaguarundi but have hunted seen mt lions in Mississippi (now the state says Florida Panther, back then they said those do not exist in that state). Another Southwest of Rock Springs and one was killed on the ranch by the Government trapper shortly after season. I heard one during bow season in Eastland County, one of the land owner said a goat was missing found it across a cattle panel fence on the next place over half eaten and covered up and the tracks in mud at the tank. While hunting elk in Montana saw several mt lions.
