2 oz is meaningless
Pick the one that does what you need it to optically

I know you’ve already narrowed it down but the ZCO 4-20 Vs the Tangent 3-15 is a much better comparison. The ZCO is heavier though at 36 oz. Hunting only Tangent, dual purpose ZCO. Although March makes an excellent scope I don’t think it’s in the same class as those two.

The 4/20 is nice except for weight and 36 mm rings I also have concerns about short scopes on a built in split rail long action

Good point, and going with the one piece ZCO rings is even more weight.

Brother In Law….what’s the intended purpose for the rig this is going on? As eluded to above, what size action is it going on? Split rail, full rail? And, what qualities of a scope does the owner value most? I have this exact March Scope, as well as a ZCO. I have spent time behind a Tangent but don’t own one.

Atlas Nanook Long Action that is a split rail. Manners stock, carbon barrel etc. 90% of the time hunting is over a feeder but occasionally there is a potential long shot on aoudad. I’m not sure I want to stick 40 oz on top of the gun I know I’m trying to stay away from leupold and nx8

In my opinion, the March is a no go on a Long action split rail. If you had a full rail, it would fit. Mine sits on a Lone Peak Fusion TI Medium action split rail. It is dang near too short. I honestly would prefer to have the scope sit about a quarter inch further towards me however I don't have room to make it work. With my required eye relief, I can only use the slot nearest to the action opening on the distal rail. If I moved the scope towards me any further the sloped scope housing for the objective would be right next to or underneath the distal scope ring. Simply not an option. There is only 5 inches from ocular eyepiece adjustment to where the slope begins for the objective lens. In my opinion, this scope is best suited for a short action or any action with a full rail. A split rail medium is risky. I can't see a split rail long action working at all.
As far as the scope goes, it's very very nice. Glass is extremely good. I would say it rivals if not bests an ATACR, definitely beats an NX8. Only glass I have seen better would be a ZCO, Tangent, S&B PMII. Those are all that I can compare it to. Turrets are excellent as well. Only one with a markedly better feel IMO would be Tangent. Setting the zero stope is extremely easy. My only gripe, besides the lack of length for rail mounting described above, is the parallax seems very touchy/picky compared to all of the other scopes I own (NX8, ZCO, PMII). And that is saying something because some say that about the NX8. I think my NX8 is less picky than the March. It's not a huge issue. I have been behind worse for sure. If you have good shooting mechanics/process, it's not a big deal to need to adjust it. Just a gripe but I am nit picking.
Compared to the Tangent, the Tangent is better at everything, for the most part, though the March isn't far behind it. There is a great comparison of the March FX against the Tangent on SnipersHide and it's surprising how close the two are per the reviewer. Tangent is the best glass hands down. And their turrets without question are the nicest I have ever dialed. That's a widely accepted thought by most as well, so I am not alone in that regard. Really the only thing you are giving up going with the Tangent is magnification in this comparison.
Durability, repeatability...........I have not seen those to be issues commented by many if any for either brand. Are either brand Nightforce tough....I can't make that claim, probably not. However, both have a huge following, and Tangent for years, has always been the benchmark by most when it comes to top/highend scopes.
If it were my money, I am getting the Tangent based on what you described as the intended use, even if the March would fit on a split rail long action, which I don't think it will. So.....since it likely doesn't, the only answer is Tangent.

1. Do you see any issue with the tagnet being long action short?
I wish that ZCO wasn't a chunk

Sent you a PM. The Tangent should have no issues on a split rail long action I would think. It's 1.5"s longer overall than the March

Zero Comprise makes some really great scopes for their price point, on par with Nightforce less than Tangent. March builds a nice scope, especially in the high power ranges.
Might look at a meopta optika 6 because for the money I think they are better than NF.

Oddly I didn’t agree with any of that. Tangent > ZCO > March which is only superior to NF optically, then 15 random scopes, and then Optika 6. I’ve honestly never spent time behind a March so my opinion on it based on others use, the rest I’ve used and currently own a ZCO. THE Optika 6 looks like someone smeared vasoline on the glass compared to the rest of that list. Which is very disappointing for Meopta.

Price is all I’m comparing the zco smokes nighforce in clarity, if I had an ATACR or a ZCO in front of me hands down the ZCO would be my choice for anything. March is really nice and crisp especially on big power, but has touchy eye boxes and parallax I spent a whole day behind an 8-80x march once it’s nice but was very sensitive. Optika 6 is comparable to a nx8 to me but half price.. I got no experience on tangent at all. Sorry Chris, I should have been more specific about what I was saying, can’t read my mind… I can afford a tangent.. looks like an awesome piece of equipment but I’m not sure I would pony up 5k for a scope. It’s hard enough doing 25-3k.

Very few (if any) on this forum are even qualified enough in high end optics to be able to accurately distinguish technical optical differences between these scopes. Most of what folks report as "good glass" or "not as good glass" is largely preferential things. Or inability to set a scope up properly. Or looking at one scope on a more difficult optical testing day versus a less straining test environment for another scope. March, TT, ZCO, NF all build fantastic scopes.
I've seen all except ZCO. None of them will hold you back optically, and I imagine the ZCO won't either. The important trade-offs for which scope to buy are going to be specification-related and UI-related, not optical quality related.

The majority of my scopes are ATACRs and I really like them. Never tried a Tangent but hear good things about them. I built a lightweight 6 ARC bolt gun and put a March on it because it is so light. I like it but the eye box is very small. I was going to let my 13 yr old shoot a deer with it this year and he couldn’t see through the scope well. I handed him my 22 creed with an ATACR and it worked fine for him.

The 10x march’s eyebox is tight, but their 8x has a better box then NXS8, with that said if they ever got smart and used a 5x erector they would probably have best scope in function and durability, at an extremely competitive weight IMO

I only have a sample of one Tangent. It was on a rifle in for load development last year. A sunny day, and a bit of mirage. I could not get the image perfect for 200 yard paper. I looked through my ATACR and NX8, in the same session. Both of the Night Force scopes had a better image to my eye. I did the same comparison when I was getting DOPE to 800 yards for the customer. I came to the same conclusion. The man that ownes it was usually a Night Force user, but he thought he'd give Tangent a try. He asked me how the scope was doing. I told him I'm missing my Night Force scopes.
It did track well. Calculated data and DOPE matched at every distance, except 800 yards. At 800 yards, the scope needed to be .1 Mil less elevation than what the calculator said it should be.

Tangent for sure.
I have a TT5-25 and a March Compact 2.5-25. The March is nice but not even same league as the TT. For your stated purpose also look at the S&B Polar T96 4-16x
