So Normaly I wouldn’t do this. I want to say I always keep off social platforms unless something goes south south…
So I bought a browning cynergy a few years back. Over the years it became sticky to the touch. Like gross sticky. So do some reasearch and find out that browning got sued and will warranty the finish and make things right. Great I’m thinking… well wrong. Sent the gun back 3 months ago. I was told it would be Feb before I get it back…hey whatever il live. I’ve got other guns. Brownings.. My gun is gone 3 months and I get the it’s coming back email. So I’m happy and thinking il get to hunt the second half of duck season. I get the gun back yesterday. I open the box and am like what is going on?! The gun has been gone for 3 months the camo hydro dipped patten is coming off the gun is still sticky and is literally in the same exact shape i had sent it to them in!! So im not happy.
Call customer service only to be told sir id be upset to but you have to call back tmrw and talk to the warranty guys. This am I do that! I’m told my stock and fore grip were replaced and the gun was sent back. So the camo is pealing off the gun is now lightly rusted from sitting at browning so long, and it looks like 💩 poop.
Browning tells me all they have to do according to their lawsuit is fixed what was in the suit and the rest is on me. Hell to the no no no. Told them that’s the last browning il ever buy. So now I’m gona have to have it stripped and cerakoted to make it right. Well browning good buy its off to beretta or Benelli my business goes. Hopefully it makes others think twice also about their customer service.

That sounds like they're experiencing financial trouble when they're that chintzy.

I had a BAR 3 with a camo finish that completely degenerated. I got wind of the class action suit, sent it in and eventually got it back, thankfully fixed. Those camo finishes were an unmitigated disaster. The fact that they released a clearly defective product then weaseled about the fix speaks volumes about the company culture.

Awful. Sounds like they are listening to their lawyers too much. Do the least amount possible while avoiding future lawsuits.
FWIW, my two post 14' a5's have been stellar and I wouldn't hesitate to take them anywhere. One of which has 20k plus rounds down it.

Man, I hate to hear that. I'd be livid after waiting that long just to get it back in worse shape.
I bought a new A5 this year from Ray's in Dallas. As I was checking out, I overheard a guy talking about his sticky stock while dropping it off to be sent back to Browning for repair. I immediately got worried. I started asking what was going on and if I would run into the same issue. The guy working the counter told me Brownings and some Benellis had the same gummy/sticky issue with their previous style stocks.

This has been ongoing for a while, Browning, Benelli, Beretta, Remington...at one point or another over the last 20 years, almost all the firearms lines have experienced SSS(Sticky Stock Syndrome)...personally had a Beretta Ultima that the "grip" panels on the stock and fore end turned to sticky paste. Carefully scraped out the residue and then installed self adhesive tread tape into the recesses on the wrist and fore end grip panels. Had a Browning BPS 10 gauge that the Duratouch degraded to a sticky paste on the stock, soaked that one in alcohol for a couple days and then sprayed it with matte finish lacquer paint, 4 coats. Had a Benelli Cordoba that also had the finish get "tacky" to the touch and actually would hold grit from exposure on dusty/breezy days... traded it to a Benelli guy who said he had an "in" to get the parts replaced. I've lost count of the Remington butt pads that have stuck to the carpet at the bottom of the safe, and some of the pads were LimbSavers...

My experience with Browning customer service over this same issue is well documented on this forum. It took right at a year to resolve the issue and all I wanted was for them to send me the stocks so I could do the repair myself. They were happy to allow me to do the repair myself but SLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWW to ship out the stocks. I could write a book about what I went through with these clowns and I swore I would never buy another item with the Browning name ever again and I have done exactly that!

Browning= Terrible??? That’s farthest from the truth sort of statement. Their camo finish is peeling off...it’s not the end of the world. Should’ve bought a wood/ blued finish. You know the kind that peoples grandpas had that are 50 years old and fully functional to this day. Everyone’s customer sucks nowadays not just browning.

I’ve had them all. For an auto, beretta and benelli only way to go. Why do you think all the high volume shoots in South America only have these 2 brands- for a reason. If you want a gun that shoots 50-50 on your pattern, Beretta only way to go.
I love the action and reliability of Benelli, but you need to float the bird or you will shoot high

Yep, my Browning Maxus had the same issue. What I learned was the stock and forearm they replace it with felt cheap and it was taking forever to get your gun back. Thankfully I found a forum thread on how to fix it yourself. You get a product from Home Depot called Krud Kutter. Completely removed the failed Duratouch. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Krud-Ku...-Grease-on-Multisurfaces-KK326/203396788I can at least now use the shotgun to hunt, but disappointed how cheap the forearm and stock feel.

The gummy feeling seems to affect many soft touch products. I’ve used a combination of rubbing alcohol and WD40 to clean the gummy feeling off of range finders and binoculars. First I clean the surface with a cloth and rubbing alcohol. Then I spray a heavy dose WD 40 on a cloth and rub the surface briskly. I repeat the alcohol treatment followed by more WD 40. When the tackiness is gone I give it a final rub with alcohol to remove any WD40 residue. When i’m done, the finish looks and feels like new.

When I tried to sell my new Maxus 2, a $1300 for $900 I wondered why there was no interest. I guess I know why now even though it doesn't have this problem I guess yet. Did have one offer, if he calls back it's his at the price he offered.

I had the same problem with my A-Bolt II. I removed the "Duratouch" finish with nail polish remover and sprayed it with a clear coat. I like the gun too much to trust Browning to fix it.

Their customer service has been crap for years. Brand new abolt had rust out of the box. Refused to warranty. I think it was Rays that stepped up and took care of it.

Trash ducks don't matter, but mallards will bust you and you need all the camo/hiding you can get. #2: It's cool. But camo patter should match your gloves, coat and waders. Mis matching camo, not cool.

Ive heard horror stories of brownings customer service for 25 years.
I had a gold hunter with that duracoat finish that got all tackie on me. I googled it, found browning class action lawsuit online and called then up. They agreed to replace it if I sent them my gun but they couldn't tell me how long it would take. That was a red flag and I decided to just handle it myself. I used the krud kutter that hopedale posted and it took care of it.
Personally I don't care what a gun looks like, I just want it to operate. My browning shotguns have always operated for me so I'll keep buying them. Although I like old shot guns and have several gold hunters that I've had for 20-25 years. I'm probably going to hold into these for along time.
I'd recommend just sending the gun off to have it cerakoted and you'll probably never have to worry about the guns finish ever again.

While we re trashing browning, let’s remember that browning was mass producing a fully automatic machine gun with brass cartridges before the majority of Americans had electricity in their homes, or owned an automobile....pretty impressive

Love my Maxus. No issues or problems. I have had several BPS and never had any issues. My browning A-bolt 7mm mag has been flawless with over 18 kills. Concerning the sticky stocks, I read somewhere is had to do with off bug spray melting the camo cover. My Maxus.

Is a camo finish on a gun necessary? Obviously not
Is power steering, auto transmission, power windows, any many other features on the car you drive necessary? Obviously not
But as with many things we like to spend money on things that make our lives easy, a camo gun means I don’t have to clean and wipe my gun down after every hunt to keep a blued finish from rusting.

And to clarify, the tackie feeling from these stocks wasn't coming from the camo/hydrodipped process. It comes from a rubbery coating that they put on the stock and forend. It was quite nice at first as it was a nonslip finish for wet cold hands. But after several years this rubbery coating starts to breakdown and become gummy and tackle to the touch.

This. I don’t have a camo gun because it looks cool, it’s because I don’t have to stress when it goes in the water or is covered in mud. I can put it in the water to get mud off of it. I can use it as a paddle in a pinch. I can hose it off when I get home, if needed. For the record, I hunted with a wood/blued Remington for 2 seasons, it didn’t help the wood at all. I’m gonna guess if you only hunt with a wood stocked gun, you probably don’t hunt out of a boat often and good chance you hunt out of a nice blind?
